The type of agency that I would be interested in working with is a social service agency. A social
service agency is responsible for offering a diverse range of public services to vulnerable
individuals or groups so that their fundamental needs can be met. I am interested in taking up the
role of a social worker so that I can help people prevent as well as cope with diverse issues that they
encounter in their day-to-day lives (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2022). One of the main reasons
for selecting a social service agency as my work area is that it offers an individual a host of
opportunities to work with a broad range of individuals and clients.
In order to work for a social service agency, I would depend on a broad human services
network that will help in fulfilling my basic requirements in the form of community resources,
support, etc. For instance, at the community level, I would require exposure to take part in
voluntary activities in social service agencies so that I can get an opportunity to interact with
vulnerable individuals. Similarly, I would also require the trust and support of my family members,
friends and acquaintances so that I can dedicate my time and effort to improve the quality of life of
other people. I would also require financial resources and funds in order to attain the minimum
educational qualification to become a social worker. The guidance and support from experienced
social workers in the community will also be of paramount importance. By interacting with such
professionals, I will be able to get an insight into the diverse situations and circumstances that
social workers need to face while working in the dynamic professional setting. The engagement
with social workers will help me get an insight into the skills and competencies that I need to work
on so that I can effectively carry out my responsibilities and duties as a social worker in a social
service agency. Some of the main participants that must be integrated into the network include
healthcare professionals, mental health workers, general practitioners, police, health visitor, etc.
As the needs of people may be diverse in the social setting, it is essential to adopt a

multidisciplinary work approach. It is essential to emphasize multidisciplinary working so that the
expertise and knowledge of other professionals can be integrated and a comprehensive solution can
be arrived at to meet the needs of vulnerable members of the society.
In order to develop a strong and effective human services network, I need to make use of my
communication and interpersonal skills. With the help of these skills, I can volunteer I local social
service agencies and interact with fellow social workers. This exposure will be crucial for me as it
will give me an opportunity to familiarize myself with diverse clients and understand and identify
their unfulfilled needs that need to be addressed. It is imperative for me to develop a strong network
as it can influence my capability as a social worker (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2022).
