A physician being amongst the highest paid professional also spend years in school and go in
a lot of debt to get the best education and training to be able to take care of their patients.
According to Melanie Hanson, the average physician ultimately pays $365,000– $440,000
for an educational loan plus interest. $165,000 – $240,000 is just from interest. A $200,000
debt can double in 10 years at current interest rates, even with regular payments (Hanson,
2021). The big lump sums they receive in the beginning is used to pay off their student loans
they are not profiting from this money in the beginning. I believe that they deserve the money
they get because they have a big job to do such as diagnosing patients, treating patients, and
just providing overall quality of care. This can sometimes be challenging thing to do when
dealing with stubborn patients that don't want to follow the doctors' orders. Doctors work
extremely long hours, and they must be on call most nights to assist patientsand most doctors
don’t have a life outside of healthcare because their services are so demanding. As a person
that believes in higher learning, I think it’s important that when you get your degree you
should be paid for your hard work. According to Tricia Christensen, the amount of money
doctors make is often directly proportional to the specialty they practice and where they
practice it. In many industrialized regions of the world, entrepreneurial drive, raw talent and
charisma might also be factors to consider when determining how doctors make so much
money (Christensen,2022). We are conditioned from previous, current, and or future jobs to
get certification or higher learning in order to receive a decent pay raise or to be consider for
a job. Physicians endure so much while in school and practicing and they deserve every
penny that they work hard for.
