Medicalsciencehasevolved,andtreatments,procedures,and

protocolshavechanged.Overtimewehaveputsomuchfaithinthe

medicalfieldbecausewethinkthat’stheonlywaytolivehealthily.

Whenweputsomuchintomedicalscience,weforgetthat

sometimesitcanletusdown.Forexample,theCovidvaccineisa

controversialtopicbecausesomepeopleareecstatictogetit,and

otherssayit'snopointifyoucanstillgetthevirus.Ifeelwedon’t

realizethatsciencecanletusdownbecausetreatmentsdependon

theperson.Unnecessarytestsandsurgeriesimplyhavingtoomuch

faithinmedicalsciencebecausemostofthetime,thedoctors

alreadyknowhowtotreatthepatient.Still,theycontinuetoorder

theseteststogetasmuchmoneytheycanfrominsurance

companies.Accordingtocollegeaffairs,Doctorspropose

unnecessarytests(e.g.,MRI),thelatestsurgicalprocedures(likekey-

holesurgery),andprescribingexpensivedrugstochargehigherfees;

cosmeticprocedureslikeliposuctionandcosmeticsurgerymaybe

dangerousandonlypandertovanityratherthanhealth(College

affairs,2019).Anotherimplicationwouldbetheresearcherbeing

fraudulentwiththeirresearchjusttobecomefamous.”Fraudand

unethicalpracticesinmedicalscience:Intheirquestforfameand

researchgrants,medicalresearchersmaybetemptedtofake

researchresultsoruseunethicalmeanstogatherresearchdata.Such

practices,ifundetected,maycauseharmtopatientswhoaretreated

withdrugsandmedicalproceduresthatresultedfromsuchflawed

research”(collegeaffairs,2019).Althoughsciencehasbeenhelpfulin

thepast,it'svitalthatconsumersalsodotheirresearchtoadvocate

forthemselves.
