Health care and valuable information that will help me in my career. As I come to the end, I first
would like to thank all my peers for the feedback. In my future career I would be interested in
being promoted within the company. I would demonstrate good leadership skills, spend the time
to properly train in the area of I will be working in, get to know the procedures and standards. I
am looking to stay with healthcare management, but I would like to run my own radiology
department. And for that I would need to complete more training and most likely a business
degree.
The healthcare information management career. I am still unsure of my post-graduation plans, but
I do know that I need to search for something small and work my way up. Because no big
corporation will hire me without experience. The American Health Information Management
Association (AHIMA) would be a good association to help in the success of the degree
Are you looking to be promoted at your current company? If so, what do you need to demonstrate
to advance your career?
During my professional career I started working in the Information Technology for about 10 plus
years and after this time I have started a new career path into the Pharmacovigilance specially in
the safety data management. For this new career path, I was giving the opportunity to start with
the employment and work towards a BS degree which is a requirement that I must have.
Are you looking to transition into a new career field? What preparation do you need to complete
to qualify for the new role?
I will not look for a new opportunity since this career is new of me. This course has helped me
tremendously in teaching me in new implementation of an EHR which is a skillset I will use going
forward.
Are you looking to enter the health information management field? What is your post-graduation
plans to enter the field of study?
I will maintain in the Pharma industry for now as it is a growing opportunity. My plan is to
continue towards my Master’s degree to strengthen my knowledge further.
What journals, associations, or websites might help you to achieve your goals? See the resources
in this module for a starting point.
I would follow the AHIMA website very often.
I currently work as a medical assistant and surgical coordinator for an awesome ENT doctor in
Virginia. When it comes to finding a new career, I know that I can look at the AHIMA website and
Facebook groups pertaining to HIM specialist’s employee opportunities. I do not honestly know
where my career is going to go after I graduate but I am so excited to see where it leads me. We
have made to the final week of class and boy am I excited. It has been hard juggling school, a
toddler, and a full-time job. I can honestly say that I am super proud of myself. I see myself putting
my education to the test and seeking a job. I feel as if I worked hard and not for no reason. I am
currently an employee at the Dana Farber Cancer institute and am actively seeking for a new role. I
have met with a recruiter within the company who is trying to aid me with a position that may
best suit me. I have applied to some appealing roles and have my fingers crossed that I am picked
for one. Because I already work in an outpatient facility, I believe finding a job information
management might be a little easier for me. I am already a member of the appc and will most
likely join ahima and continue learning from there. I also can learn at my current job site and am
offered skills training as well. The last four years have been one exciting experience. I have been
tired and have been through every emotion I can think of in pursuit of my degree. I questioned the
choice to do this and was sure the light at the end of the tunnel was going to the train that took
me out. But here we are. The end of the road is to better ourselves and our futures. I have worked
in the field for the last six years in various roles and for multiple companies. I currently work on
the government contracting side of health information management but would like to return to
the public sector.
I am not looking to transfer into a new career field but to move forward in my current career to
become an independent contractor in HIM. There is a lot of preparation, but I feel like I have been
laying the groundwork to make it possible. Several friends have expressed an interest in the idea
over the years as we watched how provider networks are being absorbed into hospital networks,
which are then purchased and incorporated into pharmaceutical and specialty care networks. b It's
been very interesting to pay attention to over the last ten years. I know that I will be pursuing
several certifications for credentialing and HIM. I know that AHIMA, HIMSS, and other professional
organizations will be on my radar to join, and I also watch how they are helping to share the
systems as the years go by.
I am reflecting on myself and my learning journey that has helped me to grow as an individual. I
believe the experiences that I have had in the academic landscape have helped me to develop my
knowledge, skills, and prowess as an individual. Soon, I intend to use my learning to carry out my
roles and responsibilities as a competent individual and thrive in a highly competitive and dynamic
professional environment.
I wish to get promoted in the current workplace based on my skills and capabilities. Promotion is
not just about getting a raise or change in the position or designation; it is about being given
additional responsibility. In order to advance in my career, I need to demonstrate a diverse range
of employability skills, such as effective communication ability, decision-making skills, emotional
intelligence, cultural awareness, and critical thinking.
As the prevailing job landscaper is filled with unpredictability, I may intend to make a transition by
entering a new career domain. To make a smooth and effective transition, I need to work on my
flexibility and adaptability. These skills can help me to adjust to diverse settings and optimally use
my skills to face new challenges in a work setting.
I am keen to join the health information management field as it can give me an opportunity to
utilize my skills while using technology in the healthcare domain. My post-graduation plans include
developing key skills that can enable me to effectively enter the health information management
domain. Some of the skills that I intend to work on are strengthen my insight on are interpersonal
skills like teamwork and collaboration, communication and leadership, and insight into appropriate
regulations.
