It came as a pleasant surprise to me when I looked at the results of
my own self-assessment of my cultural awareness and saw that I had
an excellent level of cultural awareness. My already enormously
robust awareness base will continue to expand, and I will become
even more culturally aware than I am now as a result of my
continued development. I can't help but give credit for this
achievement to my upbringing. I'm fascinated by other civilizations.
Working in a multicultural company is a great perk. It's helpful to
have a diverse range of perspectives and sources of support in
workplace. I am currently serving in the military. I relocate often. This
opened my eyes to the fact that despite individuals from different
cultures' differences, humans have many similarities. I spent my
formative years in West Africa, more specifically in Nigeria, which is
home to a rich cultural melting pot that shaped my upbringing. I
found it quite interesting to hear people from different countries'
tales about their experiences and the differences and similarities that
exist between my culture and theirs. As we all know, the military is
full of diverse, rich cultures across the globe. Even though I like
learning about other cultures, it might be difficult for me to get out of
my comfort zone, because i am a very timid person. It's thus
imperative that I understand more about the various cultures and
their interactions in other for me to have great relationship with my
battle buddies and to be able to work with patients without
accidentally offending their cultural sensitivities.
The performance of employees at Gateway Healthcare Systems may
be influenced by a number of different variables, one of which is
differences in the cultural norms and practices that are observed.
These cultural variations may have an effect on the level of
productivity achieved at St. Catherine's Medical Center, which
employs a workforce that is mostly constituted of Catholics. St.
Luke's Hospital has a low degree of diversity across most
demographics, with the exception of age. Because of this, there is a
possibility that the turnover rate is high. With the rise of
globalization, cultural diversity in the workplace has become more
commonplace. One benefit is that personnel from various cultural
backgrounds often have distinct ways of thinking, which allows them
to approach a problem from many angles. When workers from the
same culture are required to examine the same issue, this is difficult
to do. During the most recent accreditation review conducted by the
Joint Commission, it was determined that Hickman Community
Hospital had violated the criteria set out by the ADA. This is due to
the fact that the majority of the staff and patients at this specific
hospital had the same racial background. Additionally, each of their
respective communities' economic conditions needs to be identified.
As a result, modifications will be necessary in light of the influx of
new staff. The HCO's policies and processes must also take into
consideration the needs of people with disabilities and their religious
beliefs. The ability to effectively manage conflict in the workplace
may be made more challenging by variations in culture.
