Change in any setting can be tough. Especially if you're like me and
stuck in your ways. Throughout my time in my department at the
hospital we have had to make several changes to our processes and
how we do certain things. When I took over as interim office
manager, I took on the task of changing processes and in doing this I
essentially had to sell them my ideas. What I did before going to my
team about changes was, I would sit down and basically write out
what the pros of this new process would be, or map it out. With
doing this I was able to explain to them what the positives would be
with it. So, with implementing a new HIE plan I would do the same
thing. I would list out why switching to this system would benefit the
department and what new ventures it could bring. The stakeholders
that should be involved are the providers, medical employees, and
other supervisors in the department. All of these people should be
involved because they are the one who are working in the system
day in and day out. They should ultimately have a say in what
happens and what aspects should be incorporated.
