Overview
Summary:
Huntington Health is an esteemed non-profit medical center that is dedicated to providing
exceptional patient-centered care and compassionate support to every individual as their top
priority. The medical center is located in Pasadena, California, and offers a wide range of
medical services. Recently, Kim Markey was appointed as the executive director to lead and
improve the hospital's revenue cycle management for better financial performance (Ginter et al,
2015). Her role is essential in ensuring the hospital's financial stability to continue providing top-
quality medical services.
The current performance of the business office in this case study is a major concern. The
accounts receivable (AR) days are at 64 days, which is slower than the ideal low 50's for this
type of organization. Furthermore, the organization needs to focus on improving staff morale,
reducing barriers to commercial billing and collections, improving productivity, and ensuring a
smooth transition to the new Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. To address these issues,
everyone in the organization must communicate and work towards the same mission, vision, and
values. It is crucial to resolve all issues before implementing the new EHR system.
Interpretation of Mission, Vision, and Values:
It is important to consider how key terms are defined by the industry, organization, and
stakeholders in relation to Huntington Health's mission, vision, and values. These definitions
help to clarify the meaning of these terms. Huntington Health achieves its mission by combining
the expertise of its outstanding physicians, the caring attitude of its nurses, the professionalism of

its staff, and the latest medical technologies available in the industry. The vision of Huntington
Health is to lead the way in promoting community well-being by providing world-class
healthcare services that are delivered with kindness and dignity. The organization is committed
to ensuring that each person who enters their facility receives personalized attention and the
highest quality care possible. The core values of Huntington Health are "Respect, Integrity,
Stewardship, Excellence, Collaboration." (Huntington Health, 2023).
Impact of Mission, Vision, and Values:
In order for an organization to succeed, it is imperative to align its interpretation of the
mission, vision, and values with the circumstances it faces. The staff plays a crucial role in the
success of the organization, and thus, it is essential for them to understand the direction the
organization is heading towards and how they can contribute to its accomplishments. The
manager should work with the employees to identify areas that need improvement and develop
their communication skills. External sources can also be utilized to provide education and
training to the staff. This approach can help the organization achieve its goals effectively.
In conclusion, by providing the necessary support and resources, the manager can help
the employees develop the skills and knowledge required to contribute effectively to the
organization's success.
