Three topics covered in the course that can be applied in a healthcare facility are
revenue cycle, prospective payment plans, and performance incentives. The concept of
revenue cycle management can be applied to streamline financial activities such as collecting
payments and generating revenue for the facility. The prospective payment plan (PPS) refers
to a method of reimbursement in which the Medicare payment that is made is based upon a
predetermined and fixed value (Prospective payment systems - general information. CMS,
2020). This method can be applied in the healthcare setting to maintain uniformity in the
payment that is given to healthcare practitioners for delivering specific kinds of care services.
