Module 6-3 Discussion Post: Revision
ENG-123 English Composition II
October 6, 2022
For your initial post, address the following:
1. Describe what you did well in your draft. What made it so strong, and how will you use
these strengths in other draft sections that may need additional work?
2. State which sections of your draft need further improvement. Why do you feel these
sections need to be revised? Which peer or instructor feedback will you use during the
revision process?
Hello class,
First off, let me start of by saying that English has never been a strong suit of mine.
However, this course has helped me improve greatly in my writing. Overall, I think my
essay is off to a good start. With the previous assignment, before completing my essay
draft, I had a separate Word document open with my outline draft, and tweaked areas on
the outline where it was needed. This helped me tremendously in writing my draft, by
reason of, the outline helped keep me organized, as I tend to be excitable and can be all
over the place when speaking about something I am passionate about, resulting in my
writing not making much sense. (At least in my opinion). Between the outline and the
essay draft, I made mostly large-scale revisions including, clearly stating my thesis
statement, made sure to include evidence to support my argument, and included an
opposing point of view. I did my best keep my draft free of bias and using words such as
"think" or "believe" and stuck strictly with the facts that I found. This can be difficult for
me to do, especially when speaking about something that I feel strongly about. I can be
stubborn and like to think that my thought process is always the right one and that
everybody should think as such.
From here until I complete the final draft of my persuasive essay, there are a few small-
scale revisions that I am aware I need to work on. I do believe that I did an adequate job
in coming up with three main points, however, it would not hurt for me to go into more
detail with my supporting evidence when doing so. Furthermore, I do need to tighten up
my closing paragraph, making sure that I am summarizing my key points and opposing
viewpoint once more. If any of you have tips or tricks, they are greatly appreciated!
Thanks for reading,
