ENG 122

• In the past, I have not paid much attention to revision. The revision approach that I
mainly used involved rewording my own thoughts. Apart from this, I did not do anything

and I did not try to learn from my past experience. As I did not understand the importance
of revision, I never got the opportunity to identify my weaknesses and work on them.
• The revision strategy from Module Five that I would like to use for the purpose of
revising the critical analysis essay is large scale and small scale revision strategy. I have
chosen such a method so that I could adopt a holistic and integrated approach to revise. By
adopting the large scale revision method I would be able to examine various aspects
relating to the critical essay such as the quality, communication style, and structure. The
small scale revision approach would involve proofreading the work and focusing on the
clarity, grammatical use, spelling and punctuation (Writing: Strategies for Developing Skills,
2020).
• The feedback that I received was quite constructive. I got an insight into some of
the key areas that I need to work upon so that my essay could be more captivating for the
readers. My writing plan was straight forward which gave a logical flow to the entire work.
But I believe that there is further scope for me to improve my critical essay. I personally
believe that the more I revise the essay, the more I would be able to effectively present the
message in a professional way.
• After receiving outside feedback, I would like to make a few changes in my critical
essay. For instance, I would try to adopt a more descriptive approach so that the intended
message can be explained to the readers in a better way. e e
Audience
• An audience that could derive benefit by reading my critical essay is students.
Generally students have a preconceived notion about the English language. The essay would
be an eye-opener for them as I have presented Tan’s views regarding the importance of all

kinds of English languages. Some of the characteristics of the audience include young age
between 14 years and 22 years and male and female gender.
• A number of potential challenges could arise before me while trying to connect with
the audience with my writing. One of the main challenges relates to the use of limited
vocabulary. I generally use specific terms while writing in English. Thus there is scope for
me to expand my vocabulary so that the audience would be interested to read the critical
essay and understand the underlying message that has been presented.
• A few choices that I can make within my writing for the purpose of connecting with
this audience include expanding my vocabulary. Apart from this, I also need to think in a
creative and unique way while presenting my thoughts on the topic so that the essay could
be more engaging for the audience. Such approaches can help to connect with the chosen
audience group i.e. students. e
