7-2 Project One: Critical Analysis Essay
Managing Virtual Teams
The COVID-19 pandemic has created the "World’s largest work-from-home experiment."
Yendor Felgate's of the Being Human Group Theory in his paper "Managing Virtual Teams" is
that effective administration of virtual teams requires a different approach than traditional face-
to-face teams. He argues that virtual teams encounter challenges such as communication barriers,
lack of trust, and difficulty building unique team cohesion. This theory is supported by numerous
citations from publications such as Time Magazine and Gallup, and the article provides
managers with helpful advice on how to address these challenges. Overall, the author's claim is
well-supported and contains insightful information for managers. Felgate argues that effective
communication, trust-building, and clear goal-setting are essential for successfully managing
remote teams in today's globalized workplace.
The author argues that managers must adapt methods and interact with employees to
manage virtual teams effectively. He stresses that establishing positive relationships with the
team members should be a top priority for administrators. Yendor Felgate describes how a lack
of trust and inadequate communication can hinder a team's success. Moreover, he asserts that
managers must balance providing adequate and excessive supervision to adapt workflows to
remote work environments.
