The dataset contains about 17 columns with more than 20000
rows. The following headings are described in the columns, and
are Title, Location, Date, Incident Area, Target Cause, Fatalities,
Injured, Total victims, Policeman Killed, Age, Mental Health Issues,
Race, and Gender. The Title is a text data type which is usually
the caption the news gives the shooting e.g., the Sandy Hook
shooting and so on. Location is the city where the shooting
happened, Date is a date data type for the date shooting, Incident
Area describes the exact areas where the shooting took place
such as a church, Walmart, street, etc. target cause describes if
the shooter targeted a particular person or random person.
Fatalities is an integer data type describing the number of deaths
and injured showing the number of persons wounded, while total
victims add both fatalities and injured together. If the police were
involved, police officers killed and capture the number. The rest
columns record the shooter's age, information about the shooter's
mental health is captured under the mental health issues, the
Race of the shooter, and the gender is recorded.
The data were pulled from different sources, including Kaggle,
Wikipedia, CDC, and the gun violence archive website. These
datasets will be transformed into one and cleaned up using
Tableau, SAS Em, and R
