Ideas for a presentation in community health education involving
drug and alcohol abuse could be many different things. It could be a
PowerPoint presentation, a speech, an educational class or a speech
from someone that has overcome drug and alcohol abuse. Any of
these presentations have to be educationally informative and
interesting to keep the audience roped in. Having a healthy lifestyle
is the goal of these presentations. The type of presentation given to
this type of community needs to be kind and open minded but also
blunt as these people need help with huge struggles in their life.
Presenting statistics, visuals and even videos of people that have
beat drug and alcohol abuse are ideal in getting your point across to
my chosen community. Showing guidance and support is very
important to show them that a better life is out there for them to live.
The goal isn't to embarrass or bring them down. People in a
community can then take action to start or continue to use the
resources at hand to help others with their road to recovery.
Normally when completing a big project I utilize PowerPoint. I think
that is a great tool to organize and present information. I b always
include graphics that relate to my topic and a color scheme,
something to draw your eyes to the slide. I make sure not to
overcome the slide with paragraphs of information but instead list
out the main points and say all the other information in my speaker
notes. You want to engage the audience. For my community I will be
educating adults. Males make up the biggest smoking community and
as such have higher disease rates. My areas consists of most of the
population having a high school degree but very little graduating
from college. Because of that I will use plain easily understood
language and stay away from a lot of healthcare jargon. It is
important that the audience is able to place themselves in the
presentation it has to be believable and relatable.
