When comparing my first simulation to the last, my company faired a
lot better with the final run through than the first one. With the final
run through it reach global international and, in the beginning
regional business. During the first trial I focused more on the family
than the business making sure it stayed in the hands of the family no
matter what. With the last two I started to shift focus to more equal
balance between family and business matters. The growth of the
company progressively got better and expanded further. In the
beginning it was mainly family driven decisions, but as time went on
some decisions were changed for if the family member did not want
to be so hands on I went with their preference and tried to find a
solution by using outside hires.
The biggest decision that affects the company is whether to keep it
within the family and if the company should go with the IPO
initiative. By choosing to keep the company in the family it does
limit the growth of the company. While the IPO initiative can help
launch the company from regional to global status. The IPO initiative
helped the business not only grow but also help the family instead of
restricting the company as it would have without it. With the last
simulation I was quite happy with the decisions I made, so I would
not have made any changes as of the last of even second simulation.
