At the end of the first round of doing the simulation, my company
was in a medium place. the family was pleased and happy because
most decisions that were being made were family orientated but on
the perfectional side, there were some issues because there were too
many family members that were in charge. By the time I did the third
round I was able to make both sides happy, the family was able to
stay in roles of leadership but professionals were brought in to better
advance the business. The growth of the business would have gone
further if there were more professionals in roles of leadership instead
of family members. As I did each round I wanted to keep the business
family-oriented which was good but bad at the same time because
there wasn't a huge change in the growth of the business. The
business kept coming to an end around the same time. I think this was
because not enough professionals sat on the board of the business
and the family had various issues that conflicted with the business.
the biggest decision that affected the business was not allowing
professionals to sit on the board of the business, due to this when the
business had to make the decision to change the products they sold
to move with the times the family wanted to stick to the original
identity of the business which caused the business to come to an end
sooner then it should have. If the business had professionals making
the decisions the business would have lasted longer. Being that I
made the decision to keep the board filled with family, in the end, the
family was somewhat satisfied but still had conflicts with one another
when it came time to make decisions about the business.
