The prospect of CSR and DEI initiatives is essential and prevalent in
today's corporate America. I would go as far as saying how unusual it
would be for a major company not to have these types of values in
mind. That said, let me address the following questions:
1.) What steps are you going to take to promote CSR initiatives? For
example: what community programs, nonprofits, or environmental
projects will the new product or service support?
2.) How do you plan to attract, develop, engage, and reward your
project team?
Question 1:) Here at Tesla, our CSR comes in the form of an ESG
report, which is the "Environmental, Social and Governance impact
report that discloses the impact our company has on those three
areas, as well as to presents to the extent possible, data and other
information qualifying and quantifying that impact" (Tesla, 2020).
Additionally, "each product we make must be continuously improved
at each step of its lifecycle: from manufacturing to consumer use to
recycling. We must also improve every metric, including the energy
and water used to make our products, how safe our customers and
employees are, and the affordability and accessibility of our products"
(Tesla, 2020). So essentially, we are taking and will continue taking
significant strides forward to ensure we adhere to CSR initiatives.
And we did not forget about DEI, which is outlined in our impact
report as well. As the report states:
"Tesla is on a mission to accelerate the world's transition to
sustainable energy. We focus relentlessly on innovation and rely on
teamwork and collaboration to help achieve this goal. Along the way,
we are continuing to build a culture that is safe, respectful, fair, and
inclusive for all of our employees" (Tesla, 2020).
Question 2:) We will attract, develop, engage, and reward our project
team by creating incentive programs, including raises, promotions,
bonuses, etc. Also, we will be firm in our recruitment efforts to ensure
we have the right people in place doing the job well. I must also add
that not to seem harsh, but we will also take immediate action up to
and including dismissal of those who abuse their authority, are not
serving the company well, and or fostering a cohesive project team
environment.
