My ideas and perceptions of business law has changed. Although, I
found the case study for the course too be difficult at times, it
allowed me to get a detailed picture of business laws and why the
laws and regulations were put into place. Prior to this class, I never
really looked at law as something that I would need to know much
about because I really related business law to laws that applied to
businesses. I previously viewed laws as being black and white and
court rulings with little subjectivity, however the case studies and
readings changed my opinion. The people deciding cases are required
to know the laws and all laws the indirectly effect the original law,
which I find to be overwhelming.
Personally: The information about wills and trusts will be helpful as
my parents are both getting to be older and even though the topic is
not fun to discuss it is a necessary conversation and knowing more
information about the topic will allow me to help advise them or
point them in the right direction. Also, I am interested in starting my
own business, so the information about the different types of
businesses and pros and cons of each will be helpful to decide if I am
interested in a sole proprietorship or partnership.
Professionally: I work in a manufacturing facility and this class has
opened my eyes to the work that is required to ensure that the
business is compliant. There are many rules and regulations that are
required to be met for a business to comply. The monetary
investment is outrageous, so I will take this information and be a
change agent to help ensure the business continues to be complaint.
