A report that offers a multifaceted perspective on organizational performance is called a
balanced scorecard. It has metrics that reflect the organization's four perspectives:
financial, customer, internal operations, and innovation and learning. The balanced
scorecard lists the organization's objectives for each dimension together with the metrics
that illustrate how well those objectives were met. In comparison to just financial
indicators, the four components of the balanced scorecard together offer a considerably
more thorough picture of how a firm is performing (Romney, 2020).
Companies can quickly pinpoint performance-impairing problems and define strategic
actions that will be monitored by future scorecards. When analyzing company objectives
using the balanced scorecard, they look at the organization. The balanced scorecard can be
used by an organization to implement strategy mapping and determine where value is
added inside the company. Additionally, accompany creates strategic initiatives and
strategy objectives using the balanced scorecard (Balance, 2007).
Companies are using the scorecard to:
•Communicate strategy throughout the company;
•Align unit and individual goals with the strategy;
•Clarify and update strategy;
•Identify and align strategic initiatives;
•Conduct periodic performance reviews to learn about and improve strategy.
•Link strategic objectives to long-term targets and annual budgets; (Kaplan)
There are numerous ways the multifaceted nature of the balanced scorecard can help with
decision-making. As shown above, the four dimensions give information management
nearly everything it needs.
