Tool and Methodologies
Project management tools can be a variety of different things from software used to skills the
project manager uses to be successful. There are many tools used in this project. One of the largest tools
we used is Microsoft Office Suite. We used Microsoft Word to develop tables, memos, outlines, project
summaries, etc. for this project. We also utilized Microsoft Excel to create a Gannt chart of our timeline.
Microsoft Outlook was used to draft and send emails containing important information and updates
regarding this project to its intended stakeholders.. The project manager also used tools of their own
such as organization, communication, and time management.
Project management methodologies are “a set of guiding principles and processes used to plan,
manage, and execute projects” (Adobe Communications, 2022). These methodologies determine how
the tasks are prioritized. During this project, we used a hybrid of waterfall and agile methodologies. The
waterfall method has a top-down approach, meaning a lot of planning happens in the beginning stages,
such as the project scope and budget. The agile method allows for flexibility and the option to change
focus if needed. This project needed specific tasks to be completed sequentially as well as needed
flexibility with time and budget.

Q: Which software(tool) was utilized in creating the Kingston-Bryce Limited Project?
A: We used Microsoft Excel and Microsoft word to create our timelines and updates for this
project. These programs allowed us to successfully plan out which tasks needed to be
completed as well as what our budget looked like.
Q: What method was used to create the KBL Smith & Co. acquisition?
A: During this project, we utilized a waterfall and agile hybrid method. This project needed
specific tasks to be completed sequentially, as well as needed flexibility with time and
budget to provide continuous improvement. (Alexander, 2021)

Q: Is there a specific culture in the financial aspect in this project that affected the different
methods used in this project?
A: The financial team uses a hybrid of clan culture and market culture. They combined to
achieve high levels of employee participation and focused on what the needs of the market
are (Piwowar-Sulej, 2021). These helped complete our project with the focus of completing
our project with the goal of increasing our production to meet the market needs.
Q: Which method was used to gauge the project’s performance?
A: The waterfall effect was the main method used to gauge the project’s performance. There
were specific tasks that needed to be completed in a specific sequence.
Q: How well did the waterfall and agile hybrid method work?
A: Since the project was completed on time and under its budget based on the project
scorecards, this project was successful, and this model worked very well for the Smith & Co.
acquisition.
Q: Which tool was used in the final KBL project scorecard?
A: Microsoft word was a great program to use since it enabled us to complete a summary of
events as well as insert tables into our project.
Q: Since this was such a large project for KBL, which tools were utilized from project
conception to the completion of the project?
A: We utilized task management and schedule management to ensure that tasks were
completed on time. We used collaboration between multiple departments such as financial
and legal departments to ensure that the contract and budget were aligned. We also utilized
workflow management to complete our new workflow after the acquisition (Alexander,
2022).
Q: Which skills (tools) were important to the project manager in this project?
A: There were a variety of skills used in this project. The project manager needed to have
individual skills such as good analytical skills, decision making, goal setting, and time
management. They also looked for team skills since collaboration was such a large part of
this project. Technical skills were also used in the assessment of the new equipment of Smith

& Co. We needed our operations manager to assess the machines and how they worked so
they would be able to teach employees how to use it.
Q: How did you use the scorecard as a tool?
A: We utilized the project scorecards to assess how well the project was completed.
Ultimately this project performed very will with very minor setbacks that were able to be
fixed. Overall, we completed this project within its timeframe and below the allowed budget.
