The Interview 1
My first interviewers name is Tyler Golden. Tyler is a senior and a triathlete. He is a wide
receiver for the football team, point guard for the basketball team and plays third base for the
baseball team. He is involved in his church by serving in both the kids department and on the
media team. He is the eldest of two siblings and lives in a seemingly well rounded home with his
mom and dad.
What are your plans after high school?
Tyler desires to attend Auburn University to study accounting and then work for his dads
accounting firm as an intern.
What issues are students dealing with, at your school?
Nobody knows who they are and it seems like we are all just wondering around in a fog
until something looks like a good idea.
If you were to design a ministry for your school, what would it be?
I think I’d like to help those kids who don't have a life like I do. Like, I have a good mom
and dad and think that life would be horrible to not have that kind of love. So maybe like a non
weird big brother but for dads.
If you were to design your ideal youth group what would it be?
Genuine. I love the games and all that but it seems like we always are trying to outdo the
week before. That's a lot of pressure.
Are you active in any student led religious groups? Why or Why Not?
I mean not formal, I lead the prayers before games in the locker room.
When you think about student led ministries at school, what are your immediate thoughts?
I think as long as they hang around they could be good. We see people show up and make
promises and say they are going to do this and that but then after a few weeks we don't see them.

The Interview 2
Alyssa is a student at a private school in town. Her parents are divorced and she lives
with her mom and three step siblings. In her words "we are pretty dysfunctional". She cheers for
her school and works at Panera Bread Co. and hangs with her friends when she has free time.
What are your plans after high school?
Go to school somewhere and get out of here.
What career do you plan to train/study for?
I like animals so maybe a vet.
Favorite courses?
English
What issues are students dealing with, at your school?
I go to a private school so it seems like people are mean here if you are not from money
and then they judge you on your car or parents attire. So maybe bullies.
If you were to design a ministry for your school, what would it be?
We have a lot of people here who are just plastic. They need a safe place where they can
take off their masks and feel safe to be normal.
Are you active in any student led religious groups? Why or Why Not?
We have a Bible class and that's all I know of.
What do you think about youth pastors being on your campus occasionally? Have you seen
any?
I think it could be really cool. We have a pastor here on site but I think he's the only who
can come on campus. I'd like to see mine here, he's funny and I think people would like him.

When you think about student led ministries at school, what are your immediate thoughts?
Honestly it scares me. Not because its bad but I feel they would be a target and people
would shut them out of any social group.
Does your school have a religious presence? What does it look like?
It's a Christian school, they do a devotional in the mornings and then we have a bible
class. There are occasional chapel services and they play some music and then someone lectures
about something I don't understand.
The Interview 3
Anthony is a senior who did not really want to talk about his family. All he would give
me is that his mom was an addict and he's adopted. "I know have at least 4 brothers and sisters
but have no idea where they are."
What are your plans after high school?
I have already enlisted in the Air Force
What issues are students dealing with, at your school?
Most of my friends are drinking a lot but that's normal I think.
If you were to design a ministry for your school, what would it be?
I think that Jesus was a cool guy and that He loved people and I feel that if we could feed
people and show them that it's going to be ok would be awesome.
If you were to design your ideal youth group what would it be?
One that didn't meet in a church but on the street where the people are. Why is church
like the "ark" we are saved but you aren't. Like if you think a flood is coming come find me don't
make me find you.

Are you active in any student led religious groups? Why or Why Not?
No. Nothing against it, just not my idea of fun to sit in a room and talk about how bad
everyone else is.
What do you think about youth pastors being on your campus occasionally? Have you seen
any?
I haven't seen anyone here. I think it would be cool so we could ask some questions to
him.
When you think about student led ministries at school, what are your immediate thoughts?
I think we are all messed up so bad and have no idea how to run our own lives. So then
you tell me to lead others and I am too inexperienced to know what I believe. Honestly, it could
screw some people up bad.
