Christian Leadership & Church Ministries
Event Report
Student’s Name: Taylor Wright
Class (Ex: CHMN 201, CLED 310, YOUT 220): YOUT 220
Event Topic: Ministry internships and job positions with churches around the US
Date of Event: October 31st Speaker: churches and leaders
Please use this section of the report to summarize your notes and reflect what you learned (250 words):
What stood out to me wasn’t one particular speaker or booth but one of same messages that I
saw repeated at each table. It doesn’t matter what position you are applying for, where you travel, or
even if you don’t pick their specific church. They all just want to see us students get plugged in to serve
at any church and to be the hands and feet of Christ through that. The churches that attended weren’t
worried about filling only their positions but just for students to have that experience. Even if you
weren’t a ministry major there were still internship positions and seasonal (summer) positions that
would benefit the students by putting money towards their tuition which attracted a lot of attention
from the students. Because many churches were traveling from so far away to be at this fair it showed
how passionate they were to get the students connected and how strongly that they felt their churches
mission was. By having this passion and love for their churches I can assume that they have a healthy
culture in their church by the way they represented themselves at the fair and created a mini positive
culture in the area of their booths and tables. I also had never considered or taken into account how
many different positions there were within a church. There is an opportunity for everyone, whether it be
just volunteering to set up and clean up events or leading student mission trips. There is such a wide
range of positions and churches that anyone can find a place to get plugged in.

Please use this section of the report to write one take-away or action as it relates to ministry or your
ministry leadership: (This should be specific and measurable)
Having a “Kingdom view” as opposed to anything else is what attracts students to your ministry.
Not how big the congregation is, what positions you have open, strobe lights or fog machines during
worship. It is how you connect with people and keep an overall kingdom view to create a positive culture
that draws and entices students in.
