Team Levels
In this weeks readings, we read about the Five Levels of TEAM ( Social, Supply,
Supplication, Support, and Sheppard). The one I feel I identify with the most is Sheppard. Youth
are very vulnerable and can feel like their lives are constantly out of control, especially with all
that goes on in their normal everyday life. With the everyday occurrences that happen with
school, friends, dating, afterschool jobs, and home life with family, life can be very
overwhelming when you are trying to discover who you are and just trying to get through each
school day. Some teenagers don’t have a support system or anyone they can confide in when it
comes to problems they may be going through. I remember around a decade ago while I was still
in High School, I wished I had an adult who understood what I was going through and would be
there to just listen and help without judging or creating a big ordeal of the situation. I had many
different issues (eating disorder, addiction, self harm, anxiety and panic attacks) that I went
through in High School that followed me well into my adult life. Teens nowadays are going
through many of the same issues and more. This is why I feel I relate to this level the most. With
my experiences and past issues, I feel like I could help teens who are going through similar
experiences and just be there as someone who cares and to be someone, they can confide in.
Most teens just need someone who is there for them that they can identify with and can relate to
the things they go through. I can fulfill this by being someone who understands, takes the time to
hear what they have to say and use my experiences and struggles I went through to give them
advice. I can also use my experiences to show them that they are not alone in their struggles and
that with the help of God, we can get through and overcome anything and everything. The main
thing I would show them is that when we fully rely on God no problem is to hard for God to
solve, that the bad times we go through don’t last forever, and things do get better when we put
our faith in God. When we put God first in our lives, He will change them for the better. He is
there at our weakest and darkest moments to provide us with hope, strength and courage. I want
to help and provide guidance to the ones who are our future, through Christ and the Word of
God.
