as well.)
Purpose Statement: As Christians we are called to lead an equip the next generation. Create
disciples and walk along with them as they grow in their faith. Student ministry should model 2
Timothy 3:16-17.
Core Value #1: Discipling
Matthew 28: 18 -20 is the backbone of the discipleship value. As Christians we are called
to model and mentor in a Biblical manner in order to equip and teach the next generation who
will then in turn do the same.
Core Value #2: Diversity
Mark 12:31 lays it out plainly. We are to love our neighbors no matter who they are. It
does not mean we are to only love and welcome those closest to us it means we are to love
everyone even those who are different than us.
Core Value #3: Sanctification
Romans 12:2 and even the whole book of Romans gives us a better understanding of
sanctification. Sanctification is becoming Christ like. It is a process and does not happen
overnight. It takes time and transpires over the course of a person’s life.
Core Value #4: Dedication
Colossians 3:17 tells us to give thanks always. The life of a Christian is not always
sunflowers and rainbows, but we must be dedicated to giving thanks always. The flowers do not
bloom without the rain. There will be times in life when we fall short and have to pick ourselves
back up. We must be dedicated to doing so while giving thanks in the good times and the bad.
Core Value #5: Evangelism
1 Peter 3:15. Tell people about God but be mindful of how you do it. Show kindness and
respect for others. Share your testimony. I can think of no greater way to share Gods goodness
than by sharing a testimony. Students can learn so much by hearing a testimony and by sharing
their own with others.
Students are smart and are capable of more than we give them credit for most of the time. It is
important that we do not sugarcoat the Word and that we outright tell them what the Word
says. Sometimes it means that we share hard topics and discuss powerful things; but it also
means sharing the goodness of God and walking students through some of the most important
discissions they will ever make. Sharing the Word and testimonies lead to discipleship,
dedication, and evangelism. As students grow closer to Christ these things will happen naturally.
They will follow examples and that is why the leadership is so important.
