1. "Now that you have briefly walked through almost 150 years of western history, does the
past help you see why our culture is where it is at today?"
As times change, so does the lifestyles and our way of thinking. When times were simpler it was
easier to rely on the Bible and on God. As generations evolved, somehow, people decided that
the law of the Bible was outdated and not necessary to have a successful life. Therefore, you
have more dysfunction in the homes and lives of people today, no respect for God or His word,
the removal of God from schools and just daily chaos. Divorce is an acceptable way for people
to resolve marriage problems. Teens are confused about their sexuality because they haven’t
been taught that God doesn’t make mistakes. You are either male OR female, what is so
confusing about that? Parents let children do what they want just so they don’t have to parent
them, there’s no structure anywhere. Life begins at conception, not when the child is on the
outside of the womb. It’s a very scary and complicated world that we live in.
2. "What do you think are the implications and effects of Modernism and Postmodernism upon
the youth which have been affected by this world view?"
Without having God as our source of truth the youth of today don’t have any real rules for life in
general. They go off of what they see and what they think that they know. Social media has
become the word of truth for youth now. Everything that is flashed in front of them is their
reality. I think that even the youth who are heavily involved in church are conflicted about the
world that they live in. Some of them are in Christian schools and some of them are in public
schools but when they mix together and share thoughts and ideas, its like germs, it spreads like
crazy. Growing up in today’s culture is hard for most people but youths are far more susceptible
to the desires of the flesh without God’s word to guide them.
