Developing A Theology of Worship is Important.
There is nothing more important than the Worship of God who is the creator of the
universe. However, the main issue is whether his creation will not just worship Him but worship
Him the right way. Some reasons why developing a theology of worship is important are;
1. God created everything therefore, everything comes down to Him which includes our
worship. “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it”
Psalm 24:1. - “Our theology matters because it is about God and nothing matters more than
God”1 Theology is all about the study of God and His message and we cannot worship God
without proper knowledge of who He is. It is the Word of God that calls forth the worship of
God and true worship is a response to the self-revelation of God in Christ and Scripture.
2. Worship leaders and pastors are theologians not just for themselves but for the people that
they lead. - Worship leaders and pastors have a huge responsibility to make sure that the
songs that are sung, the worship that is led, the sermons that are preached, and the prayers
shared are theologically sound.2 A pastor or worship leader's mandate is not just to sing songs
on the platform, or to preach from the Word of God routinely. A pastor is considered as a
shepherd who trains, equips, and encourages God's people through the Word. Also, a worship
leader shapes minds through leading theologically sound songs which draws people closer to
God because the truth is put upon their lips to sing. To lead a congregation well in proper
worship of God, the importance of establishing a well-developed theology of worship cannot
be overemphasized.

3. Worship is a lifestyle and beliefs impact behavior. Romans 12:1-2. - According to Due,
worship is the activity of one’s life, which gives life its entire focus and direction.3 Our
worship of God must be intentional, not haphazard, or partially rendered. God is holy and
deserves worship in whole from a being that is set apart. His Word is the perfect guide for
our everyday lives. “Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (Psalm
119:105). We draw instruction and guidance from the Scriptures for every aspect of our walk
and this is an important aspect of worship.
