Topic: We Were Created to Worship
Scripture:
Romans 12:1-2, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your
bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not
be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may
prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” (NKJV).
Narrative:
As Christians, we were made to glorify God. To fully comprehend how to worship Him, we must
first grasp what worship is. Worship is the expression of our deepest sympathies and highest
praise for anything. True worship of God is when we love Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and
strength. It is when we value God above everything and put Him first. We were made to worship
to praise God, and He desires us to do the same. When we worship God, we can announce that
God is at the forefront of all that is going on in our world today, which is a tremendous weapon
against any falsehood that says God is not in charge or capable. Worshiping together encourages
us to submit to God and relinquish all of our worries. Priorities, goals, ambitions, dreams, and
even anxieties are all affected. We are nothing without God, therefore we should adore and honor
the One who has given us everything. The section of Scripture I chose is appropriate for this
topic because it shows that our bodies are designed to glorify God. We live in the world, yet we
are not of it since God made us in His image.
Teaching Point:
Many individuals worshiped God according to the Bible. Take, for example, the woman who
washes Jesus' feet; she was an immoral lady, yet she anointed Jesus with exceedingly costly
perfume by spreading it on his feet with her hair. Being at Jesus' feet indicates an act of worship
and honoring Him in the same way as God is honored. Paul and Silas in jail are another
illustration of individuals praising God in the Bible. They were placed in jail, and by midnight,
they were praying and singing songs to God loud enough for other inmates to hear. There was a
big earthquake, and the prison's foundations were rocked; instantly, all the doors were unlocked,
and every one's bands were freed. Given that they went to God in prayer, trusted in God's
promises, and used every opportunity to promote the gospel, Paul and Silas' activities are acts of
praise. The key point is that authentic worship is any act of obedience, praise, honor, devotion,
and thanks done to the true God by a reborn person who understands the truth about God and
loves him. This is illustrated in John 4:23, which states, “But the hour is coming, and now is,
when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking
such to worship Him” (NKJV). True worship of God, according to Jesus, is not related to a
setting, but the ultimate goal within one's heart. "A king is more glorified by a cherishing people
than a cowering people," according to an article titled God Made the World for Worship: His
Glory in Individuals and Gatherings, "God does not intend to be glorified half-heartedly."
Meaning that if a king may be treasured and praised, God, who is King of Kings and Lord of
Lords, deserves everything and should be loved and cherished. In other words, because we are
God's creation, we were created to adore Him.
Application:
Yeshua by Jesus Image is the music I picked for this application. This song is such a beautiful
praise song after hearing and singing it at church. This song helped me sense God's presence in
the spirit; it's an emotional yet lovely melody. The song's lyrics prompted me to explore the
following questions:
● How do you feel when you think about Christ and His act of redemption in your life?
What are some methods to convey these emotions?
● We should constantly be thankful for everything God has done for us; how should we
express our gratitude to the Lord?
● There are numerous ways to worship God; does the manner in which we worship God
matter? Is there a specific method?
Response Song:
So Will I (100 Billion X) – Hillsong United Lyrics
God of creation
There at the start
Before the beginning of time
With no point of reference
You spoke to the dark
And fleshed out the wonder of light
And as You speak
A hundred billion galaxies are born
In the vapour of Your breath the planets form
If the stars were made to worship, so will I
I can see Your heart in everything You've made
Every burning star
A signal fire of grace
If creation sings Your praises, so will I
God of Your promise
You don't speak in vain
No syllable empty or void
For once You have spoken
All nature and science
Follow the sound of Your voice
And as You speak
A hundred billion creatures catch Your breath
Evolving in pursuit of what You said
If it all reveals Your nature so will I
I can see Your heart in everything You say
Every painted sky
A canvas of Your grace
If creation still obeys You, so will I
So will I
So will I
If the stars were made to worship, so will I
If the mountains bow in reverence, so will I
If the oceans roar Your greatness, so will I
For if everything exists to lift You high, so will I
If the wind goes where You send it, so will I
If the rocks cry out in silence, so will I
If the sum of all our praises still falls shy
Then we'll sing again a hundred billion times
God of salvation
You chased down my heart
Through all of my failure and pride
On a hill You created
The Light of the world
Abandoned in darkness to die
And as You speak
A hundred billion failures disappear
Where You lost Your life so I could find it here
If You left the grave behind You, so will I
I can see Your heart in everything You've done
Every part designed in a work of art called love
If You gladly chose surrender, so will I
I can see Your heart, eight billion different ways
Every precious one, a child You died to save
And if You gave Your life to love them so will I
Like You would again a hundred billion times
But what measure could amount to Your desire?
You're the One who never leaves the one behind
