In this course, there are several areas that I hope to see a significant
growth in as it pertains to the doctrine of the immutable, unfathomable,
ever-existent and magnificent creator of this universe. While I have
always maintained a firm belief in the existence of God, there have been
times in my life in which certain attributes of God have seemed almost
impossible, however due to the existence of unwavering faith, I have
learned to accept them as fact.
Are there any specific questions that I hope to answer?
Yes, there are a multitude of questions that I, as a believer and Pastor,
hope to have answered. These are mostly centered around the attributes
of God and how one person can exhibit each and every one of these
qualities. Though accepted through faith, I would love to answer how God
can be both immutable and ever-present, while also exploring how God
can be a God of love, while also be a God of Justice. I accept these as
absolute fact through faith, but the reasoning and process of these beliefs
are extremely important to me.$
Are there personal goals of experiencing God as an outcome?
Absolutely, the goals that I hope to experience includes a mighty move of
God and a gigantic paradigm shift in my own systematic theology. I
believe that knowing the why's and the how's of the attributes of God and
the person of God will help me experience him in my daily life each and
every day. I desperately want to know God more and more each day, and
I believe that understanding him on a deeper level, I can grow to know his
heart and press in to all that he has for me.
Is this something that I might develop into a sermon series?
Absolutely. I firmly believe that God's people need to know who he is. Not
only do I believe that they need to know it, I believe that preaching on the
attributes and person of God will greatly benefit congregants in knowing
the heart of God and his will for their own lives. I would love to develop
the contents of this course into a multi-week sermon series in which we
explore who God is and how we experience him daily.
How might this relate to personal/corporate spiritual growth?
The contents of this course directly ties into growing in both our own
personal spiritual growth and that of our corporate body of believers. The
more we know about God the Father, and who he is, will contribute to us
experiencing him in our own lives. When we get to know who God is, we
can begin to experience the awe, wonder, and majesty of him as our
father and friend. The knowledge of who God is can lead to a greater
intimacy with him and provide us with an opportunity to draw in and know
his heart as the supreme ruler of all, yet our benevolent father and our
righteous judge.
