The modern church is faced with several significant issues, where compromise becomes a
temptation and translation is allowed to be individualized and malleable. In a society that de-
mands convenience, humankind sees things as disposable or replaceable, opinions are forced
upon one another, and tolerance of the “natural” behaviors have become the forefront of what is
socially acceptable. The mantras of, “If it feels good, do it” and “No harm, no foul” have become
the norm, and foundations of faith are being tested.
Three particular areas of society and culture have become the campaign on the battlefield
against the enemy and are areas in which opposition taking up strongholds. is
The Authority of Scripture
The Word of God is documented as having been spoken before the creation of man (Gen-
esis 1:1, John 1:1). Therefore, the authority of the Word of God was established before the cogni-
tion of human existence and comprehension human self-awareness. of
The Old Testament becomes the foundation of the Word of God at the birth of the Christ
child. The Old Testament was given to humankind in divine fashion and was handed down
through millenniums, exceeding the span of individual human life; sent to shape the very behav-
iors and events that humankind experiences. The Word of God is law and will endure. This

record has spanned every generation of human existence and remains the same. Even considering

the wonder that the human creature is, humanity does not have the ability to lay claim to remain-
ing unchanged during the recorded period. That is a testimony of the authority of scripture, hav-
ing withstood the test of time and change.
