Biblical Worldview Essay
Introduction
All Christians believe that God created the world. We also believe that He is still actively
involved in our lives today and wants to have a relationship with us. All we need to do is believe
that Jesus is the son of God and he died for our sins. As Christians, our beliefs, also known as
doctrine, affects the way we live.
Creation and Continuing Involvement
God created the world out of nothing(ex nihilo) in six days. Bible verse. There are many
different approaches that Christians take on creation like the day age theory, gap theory, and blah
blah blah. But no matter how you choose to interpret the beginning of Genesis, every theory
begins the same way: that God with his blank power created the world from nothing. Because
Christians believe that God created the world, there are certain doctrines that follow this belief.
Genesis 1:1 says, "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." The first thing that
the Bible says is in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The first sentence of
anything is a very important sentence. It lays the foundation for everything else so obviously this
is extremely crucial, "what one believes regarding creation is crucial because it goes to the issue
of the inerrancy, trustworthiness, and authority of scripture" (How). Because God created
mankind in the image of Himself, that means that we all are valuable to His kingdom and are
here for a specific purpose. We all fit together in His plan to ultimately bring glory to our
Creator. We are instructed to tell the world about Him and love others as He does.
Hebrews 3:4 says that God is the builder of everything, "For every house is built by someone,
but He who built all things is God" (biblegateway).

John 1:3 also says God that made everything, "All things were made through Him, and without
Him nothing was made that was made" (biblegateway).
God is still active in His creation. The theological term for this is "providence."
Providence means that, "we are able to live in the assurance that God is present and active in our
lives" (Erickson). Through God’s creation of mankind, He continues to stay active through the
new processes, ideas, and creations that man makes as a result of His initial creation. Elwell says,
"Every aspect of human life is included in God's providential orderings. Just as with the
formation, growth, existence, fortunes, and destiny of the world as a whole, the nations of the
earth, and Israel in particular, so is it with the individual. God formed us in the womb, ordained
what all lives should, guides us in our life's circumstances, meets our temporal needs, sends
prosperity and adversity, and ultimately takes us off this earth in death at his own appointed
time" (Providence). God still involves Himself with His creation. There are still miracles that
happen everyday. And if God didn’t intend to continue to be active in His creation, then there
would be no need for the Holy Spirit.
Vocation/Job
The doctrines of Creation provide us with guidelines on how to interact with people in
situations. Our beliefs affect the way we interact with people and perform in our vocations. For
example, as a psychologist, you would need to love all of your clients equally, no matter how
dark their stories may be or what insane things they may tell you they've done. Like 1
Corinthians 16:14 says, "Let all that you do be done in love” (biblegateway). You need to
remember that they were created in the image of God and God has a purpose for their life like
Genesis 1:27 says, "So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him;

male and female He created them." You are there to give them the help they need while
reminding them that they have a purpose. They should be in a safe zone when they are with you.
They should feel comfortable enough to tell you anything, knowing that they won't be judged or
looked down on. You're just there to help them. If you believe they were knitted together by the
hands of God Himself then your clients deserve respect and love.
You also should work hard at whatever it is God has called you to do. There are
multitudes of verses in the Bible talking about how important it is to do the best you can at what
you do. Proverbs 14:23 makes a strong case for hard work, "In all labor there is profit, but idle
chatter leads only to poverty” (biblegateway). Proverbs 12:11 also talks about the importance of
hard work, "He who tills his land will be satisfied with bread, but He who follows frivolity is
devoid of understanding." And Colossians 3:23 says, "And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to
the Lord and not to men." In whatever vocation you go into, you should do everything to the best
of your abilities for the glory of the Lord.
Conclusion
Our lives are affected by the doctrine we believe. Christians are called to live a different
lifestyle than the rest of the world because we are to be a light to the lost. Our doctrine is
intertwined into everything we do in life. It affects how we treat people, what we do with our
lives, and many other things. It should be the Biblical foundation for how we live.
