(Practical II)
Students will complete 4 Practical Examinations (Two assessing each subject Ballet/Modern or
Tap/Jazz). Practicals will include memorized material as well problem/solving and exploration/written
material. Students should be prepared to perform new as well as pre-rehearsed movement phrases.
THEA 108-001 & 002 Ballet Practical Notes: (100 total points possible)
Body Alignment and Placement: (25 points possible):
In order to receive an Advanced scoring, you must execute each step with technical proficiency
focusing on proper alignment from head to toe with correct placement as you navigate through
each position.
Duplication of Movement Patterns in Detail: (25 points possible):
In order to receive an Advanced scoring, you must be able to quickly comprehend the material
presented and demonstrate accuracy and excellence during execution.
Effort and Improvement: (25 points possible):
In order to receive an Advanced scoring, you must present an abundant amount of effort to
continue to improve not only as a self-motivated technician, but also an artist.
Musicality and Performance: (25 points possible):
In order to receive an Advanced scoring, you must engage your entire body and project the
artistry and joy of the movement with ease while engaging the audience as you connect the
movement musically.
