Triad Journal Article Review
The Triad Journal Article that I have identified relates to my client's concerns and needs
is the "Caregivers to older adults require support: A scoping review of their priorities”. The
purpose of this article is to educate and give awareness of This article aims to educate and raise
awareness that adults who care for or are responsible for another elderly person also need care
themselves. This article also states that, according to studies, these adults who are responsible
for the care of another elderly person also have their own priorities, including self-care, access
to information and advice, support, and access to resources, among others.
This article also describes how caregivers provide a free service to elderly people
without support in their role, and that most caregivers are family members or friends rather
than healthcare professionals. This article, based on an analysis using quantitative and
qualitative data, identifies that the second most prominent category after role orientation is
self-care and respite, which is one of the priorities established by my client. According to the
article,
“Regarding self-care, the necessity of managing one's own health was recognized by caregivers
(Condon et al., 2019; Grant & Graven, 2019; Lutz et al., 2017; Thomas et al., 2021). Grant and
Graven (2019) report that the top two priorities of caregivers in their study are maintaining
selfcare activities and maintaining physical, emotional, social, and financial well-being. The
stress of the caregiving role can cause a myriad of emotions” (Hall, S., Rohatinsky, N.,
Holtslander, L., & Peacock, S. (2022).
The article’s purpose is to express that better results are achieved for both the caregiver
and the person receiving care when a healthcare professional is involved.

During my meetings with my client, I learned that she has needs that require the help
and guidance of her social worker to find the resources necessary for her well-being. One of the
biggest problems my client faces is that she needs support caring for her elderly husband, as she
is also quite elderly and cannot manage all the household tasks, to the point that she has no
time for herself.
The concepts learned in this article have been very informative, which can help me with
my client in my upcoming sessions to be more aware of the effort and sacrifice involved. My
client, as an elderly person, also has her own difficulties and weaknesses, which makes her not
entirely capable of meeting all of her and her husband's needs. A professional healthcare
provider can make a difference in her daily life by providing the assistance she needs and at the
same time relieving her of certain responsibilities, which can leave her more free time for her
self-care needs.
Learning these concepts can significantly impact how I intervene in my client's situation.
It makes me more aware of my client's needs and the effects that can occur if the issue is not
addressed. Acquiring this knowledge makes me more diligent in seeking out the resources my
client needs. This allows me to do a more effective job and achieve faster results for my client's
physical and emotional health.
