Develop at least eight goals that you want to accomplish your internship
experience. Review the suggestions we made earlier in the chapter before you
begin.
Goal 1:
-Learn all the goes into event management with a minor/major league organization.
Goal 2:
-Increase the teams overall attendance at games because of promotional events.
Goal 3:
-Improve planning skills
Goal 4:
-Learn to work with others in order to plan promotional events for the
organization. Goal 5:
-Develop my leadership skills
Goal 6:
-Demonstrate that I can successfully plan/organize and run an event for the team.
Goal 7:
-Organize and plan events that would incorporate children in the community
spending time with the players.
Goal 8:
-Earn a job with the team or ultimately with a professional team, depending on
where I start.
Use this form to make sure your career goals are consistent with your current
direction information in Application 2.1. If they aren't you may need to tweak your
plan. Remember you need to have a connection between what you wish to
accomplish during your internship, the internship you hope to secure, and your 1
year checkpoint.
My main goals are to develop my leadership skills, improve my planning skills
and to successfully plan events for a professional sports team or a minor league
team to start off. For my internship I hope to help plan and organize events for a
minor/major league organization. At my one year checkpoint I hope to have
accomplished this internship and then either earn a job with the same organization
I interned with or another team. I believe that I am staying on task with my plans
for the future at this point. My goals all line up with my ultimate career success
plan.
