Introduction
Ephesians 4:7-16 is a rich text that gives great insight to Christ being lifted up high above
all heavens (v 10) and to the growth and calling of the Christians as they walk by grace By
grace, through faith, we receive Christ and his finished works, which led captivity captive
and brought gifts and callings unto us for the edifying and perfecting of the body (church)
until we all in perfect union receive the fullness of Christ. Ephesians is nicknamed the book
of the heavenlies because of the rich content of blessings given in this book which are considered
promises from God. The passage in Ephesians 4:7-16 and the whole of the book for that matter
“is a grateful discourse upon the vast scheme of divine grace, and blessings flowing from it.”

The text in Ephesians 4:7-16 is full of promises and divine truth of the ascended glory of Christ
Jesus the Lord and His calling and foundational set up of the church. “All the ascension gifts
come to us for the building up, not of many sects, but of the Lord's one church. His choicest
gifts are holy men, qualified for various gracious works, which they carry on for the perfecting of
each believer, and of the whole body of the faithful.” The foundation of the ministry of the

church comes through proper leadership and through proper leadership the church was to grow to
the fullness of Christ. The Eph.4:7-16 text to the believer is twofold. 1. It is about the walk of the
believer and 2. About the service of the believer through the gifts given for leadership and
