Experience on Previous Formal Research Paper
Formal research writing is an essential field that focuses on analytical thinking as an
individual gathers and processes information. My experience in formal research writing is from
a previous management course in college. The research paper focused on identifying the key
factors that may contribute to employee turnover and the strategies that can be used by the
management team to mitigate the problem. The formal writing began with the identification of
a research problem and gathering information from a local organization using surveys and
questionnaires. Besides the writing included a summary of the collected information using both
descriptive and inferential statistics. In addition, creative solutions were included to solve the
problem. I receive a feedback from my course instructors after a number of follow ups and
review adjustments.
The process of writing a paper, however intriguing, had a number of challenges. One
of the challenges that I encountered during the formal research writing was identifying the right
structure to formulate the research questions. Besides, I found the process of collecting and
summarizing information to be both time-consuming and expensive. During the data
collection, some of the participants would postpone or even cancel the interview appointments.
Compiling and finalizing the final research paper was also cumbersome, as the time needed to
proofread and correct the errors was limited.
While I felt the process was cumbersome, I also felt that it provided an opportunity to
present my thoughts in a formal manner. The formal research writing presented an excellent
opportunity to improve my written communication. I felt that the research writing would help
me create a proper foundation for improving both my academic and professional experience.
With the previous experience, I am looking forward to improving my research writing skills in
the course.
