Worldview Paper
Part I: What is a worldview?
“A worldview can be described as a filter from which one sees and interprets the world
and all that it represents” (Weider & Gutierrez 2015, p. 58). As human beings, we all have our
view of the world. Our philosophy which affects our beliefs and which, in turn, affects our
thoughts and feelings. This view is called a worldview. Essentially it is the way we perceive the
world and how we act and react considering the world.

Part II:
1. The Question of Origin
In a biblical worldview, we believe the book of Genesis chapter one. This chapter gives an
account of Gods creation of the heavens and the earth in six days. We also get the creation
account of humans in Genesis 2:7-23. It tells us God moulded a man from the soil, then breathed
into him the breath of life, and from the rib of man, a woman was born.
2. The Question of Identity
From what we know, being human is the ability to interact with and essentially protect our
environment. It is the ability to love and show affection, to be moral, have freewill and think
responsibly. In the book Genesis 1:27, it is said that God created us in His likeness. Although it is
limited, we do reflect some of Gods attributes. That is what makes us unique and distinguishes us

from the rest of Gods creations.
3. The Question of Meaning/Purpose
Life can be described as an opportunity that God has given His people to people to strengthen our
relationship with Him. The Bible tells us that God created us to bring Him glory. Therefore, the
primary purpose of man is to glorify God (Isaiah. 43.7). We are to know Him and help others to
know him by glorifying Him.
4. The Question of Morality
The biblical view of morality comes from the assumption that God exists and has revealed
himself to us. In a way, it is grounded on a love that has its source in Jesus Christ (John. 13.34).
In the word, we see that we know right from wrong because it is written upon our hearts by God
and affects our conscience (Romans. 2.13-15).
5. The Question of Destiny
The word of God is clear on this point. It says that when we die, our souls separate from
our bodies. Now, the souls of the saved will go into the presence of God and inherit an
eternity in paradise (John. 3.16).In contrast, the souls of the lost will be condemned to an
eternity of conscious punishment (Mark. 16.16).

Part III
How might/should a biblical worldview influence the way you…
1. …think about, treat, and speak to others on a daily basis?
Culture plays a role in how humans view reality and how they communicate that reality
(Samovar, Porter & McDaniel 2010). As ambassadors of God's kingdom, we need to
understand that different people with different cultures will have different worldviews,
and though our worldviews differ, we are all Gods creations. Despite peoples numerous
differences, a biblical worldview teaches us that we should engage every individual with
a loving heart and respect.
2. …treat/interact with the environment and non-human creation?
In Genesis, God looked over all he made and saw that it was good (Gen. 1.31). In verse
twenty-eight, he gives man the responsibility subdue and rule all the earth. Based on this,
we are to work hard to maintain the world in the way God intended.
