Why is it important to know what you believe and why you believe it?
It is so very important to know what you believe and why you believe it to be true, if you
are unsure or have any doubt in your heart it is that much easier for the Devil to creep into your
life and plant more seeds or doubt that could cause you to fall away from Christ. However, if you
keep your mind pure and on God’s purpose for your life you will be able to impact others with
your strong beliefs and firm foundation. As our text reminds us “Faith is so important that it is
mentioned over three hundred times in the Bible… The Scripture says, “Abram believed
the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness” (Genesis 15:6).”(Hindson, 2003) The other
passage from the Hindson text that really stuck out to me was… “Without faith it is impossible
for us to know Him or love Him. Faith is the starting point in our spiritual journey. We must
begin with God: believing that He exists, believing that He cares, and believing that His love is
real.” (Hindson, 2003) this is so very true, Faith is what allows us to believe in a God that we
cannot see and it is the starting point of your walk with Jesus.
Identify what you believe about God, the Bible, and Jesus Christ. Why do you believe these
things?
First and foremost I believe in God and I believe in His promise! I believe that everything
that is written in the Bible about our heavenly Father is true. He has always had his hand over me
in my life and he’s never let me down and he NEVER will! As our reading explains to us “God
calls men to be leaders at home, in the church, and in the community.(Hindson, 2003) As much
as I believe in God and his power I also believe that God calls us as his children and his disciples
to be like him. We have been created to fulfill his plan and teach others about his love and mercy.
I have heard it many times in my life that charity begins at home… this is so true as you must
have a firm foundation before you build your house. God provides us with the steps to build this
foundation right here in his word. If we read the Bible and follow Gods teaching we can be
successful Godly leaders for our children, co-workers, neighbors and anyone else that we may
come in contact with. There are a ton of verse in the Bible that tell us exactly who Christ is and
the power he can have in your life. I feel this verse explains it best, “I am the Alpha and Omega,
the beginning and the end, the first and the last.”(Revelation 22:13)
Faith doesn’t change my circumstances.
It changes me.
