Worldview: Secular Humanism
Secularism's perception of origin is on a scientific approach that explores life's origins
and a description of how humankind came to exist. There is no existence of God in the world of
secular humanists, and science is the only aspect that elaborates the trace of humanity and the
universe. Secular humanism alludes to the initial big bang theory being the primary cause of life
and is closely followed by evolution that resulted in modern human beings.
The secularist worldview states that humankind is unique and more important because
they have more legal rights compared to other animals. They can make significant decisions that
may change their habitats and beyond. Some secularists explain that humankind has the
responsibility to offer protection from others that may seek to create harm to them (Sandu,
Huidu, & Frunză, 2020).
Secular humanists' worldview suggests that the purpose of existence to secular
humankind is primarily scientific. Finding solutions to critical human questions adopts scientific
reasoning, reduces human inequalities, and constantly works hard towards leaving the world in a
better position. It is the ultimate principle and responsibility of every secular humankind despite
not believing in the afterlife (van Mulukom et al., 2021)
The secular humanists are quite alert on the individuals' ethical behavior alongside
advancing a set of universal moral standards that are mandatory to allow societies to function
efficiently. No religious basis requires a man to display ethical behavior but must be created on

sympathy, wants and social ties, and education. The individual's ethics must be geared towards
logical reasoning but not defined by religious affliction (Blankholm, 2018).
Secularism holds that the afterlife refers to how a person affected lives in the world.
They tend to value the benefits of drawing from a deceased individual. Secularists argue
that they must continue with such good and moral aspects because they can be acts of kindness,
love, and justice to the world. On the other hand, secularism does not believe in an afterlife in
which an individual's soul exists in any tangible or cohesive way.
The biblical worldview focuses on God and his plan for human salvation. Individuals and
the denominations they belong to have different points of view. The majority of these religious
worldviews have some elements with secular humanism. Secular humanism explains that
humankind existed because of scientific interventions. In contrast, the Biblical worldview is the
opposite because the origin is based on God as the cause and the reason for the beginning of life
and humankind into existence. The secular humanism approach is based on the materials of man
and the world. Modern Christians are moderate Christians who identify as secularists and
humanists as well as Christians.
The Bible teaches moral reasoning patterns that inherently emphasize conduct and
character, as implied by virtue ethics. Proverbs 11:3 provides a detailed account of maintaining
upright integrity, which should be their guide because crooked ways will destroy them. This is
dishonesty will destroy them; the verse encourages people to practice honest behavior traits.
Although secularists are atheists, they agree that honesty and sharing are morally good because
they work well in most interactions and societies.
There are some differences between secular humanism and biblical worldview.
Secularists argue that external factors such as education and income determine human behavior,

whereas Christians believe human behavior begins in the heart. Proverbs 4:23 says, "Above all
else, guard your heart." This implies that corruption and other immoral activities in society are
caused by what people watch, listen to, and do and their sins.
People achieve ungodly status if they allow the ungodly aspects to manifest. As a result,
it is critical to enable holy things to happen; as a result, they become godly. Secularists believe
that morality is empowering; thus, they engage in good deeds and shun wrongs based on
reasoning, empathy, compassion, and respect for the dignity of all people (Kettell, 2019).
The Bible teaches about life after death, also known as soul sleep. The Christian belief is
that an individual's soul enters a sleeping state after death that lasts until the final judgment
(Morales, 2021). According to Romans 6:23, the punishment for sin is death, whereas those who
live honestly are rewarded with eternal life. On the other hand, secularists argue that the
continuations of good morals can manifest an individual's afterlife that a person had while alive
(Sweetman, 2021).
