Discussion Thread: Becoming a Thought Leader
In what research areas or settings do you feel led to become a
thought leader?
     The nursing practice environment is an interesting research setting
that has led me to become a thought leader. The practice environment
entails the organizational characteristics of a work setting that facilitate or
constrain professional nursing practice (Zeleníkováet al., 2020).
Professional practice environments support nurses to work at the highest
scope of nursing practice, to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team,
and to mobilize resources quickly (Zeleníkováet al., 2020). This setting
has modeled me into a thought leader because I can leverage it to create
an attractive and supportive work environment. I can also leverage into to
demonstrate my nursing expertise and create interdisciplinary nursing
teams to improve care delivery.
What areas of research are emerging as interesting to you?
Ethics of healthcare for the homeless is a research area that is
emerging as interesting to me. The ethics of healthcare for the homeless
is an interesting area because it relates to healthcare management,
including administrative practices that model individuals into thought
leaders (Loubièreet al., 2020). Thus, this area is interesting because it will
help me conduct studies aimed at understanding how ethics and
administrative practices within care management can be leveraged to
increase care quality and promote compliance with the nursing ethical
principles.
Where do you feel the Lord leading you to grow and learn more so
that you can make a difference for Him in that area?
I feel that the Lord is calling me to care for others, especially the homeless
that have been abandoned in the care settings. For example, the Lord is
modeling me to leverage my thought leadership capabilities and nursing
expertise to address inequities in the care system and guarantee that
administrative practices support the welfare of nurses. Thus, the Lord is
modeling me into a spiritual nurse to ensure that I forge relationships with
marginalized populations such as the homeless and improve their access
to care.
Any changes or clarifications from what you posted in the
Discussion: Becoming a Thought Leader?
The change from my previous discussion post is that I have
integrated spiritual nursing into the current discussion. I have integrated
spirituality into nursing to ensure that my transition into a thought leader
entails obedience to God and honoring His will of caring for others. This
has offered me a new perspective on nursing and thought leadership
because it enables me to understand how spiritual practices influence
values.
