“The consequences of ideas", a book have been written by R. C. Sproul,
illustrates how ideas and knowledge have been changed, shaped and
contributed by the founding philosophers over the ages to the field of
Humanities. It has highlighted the origin and forms of Western philosophy
throughout history that explain the evolvement of the human culture to its
extension till today. The author of the book has elaborated on how the
ideas of the philosopher have been structured and formed over the years
to enhance society's understanding of the world and its culture as well as
its behaviour and values (Sproul & Runnette, 2010). In this book, the
author R. C. Sproul has tried to identify the western philosopher's ideas in
an extensive way. Also, he has tried to examine how the previous
generation was swayed or affected by the western philosopher to the
present day and how it affects these philosophers' ideas on the world
events, culture, theology, and daily life. The author has tried to provide an
overall understanding of how powerful were these ideas of the
philosophers. Thus, it is important to understand the course of history.
1. C. Sproul has also tried to explain a distinction between
knowledge or science and philosophy that refers to providing an
understanding of the love of wisdom. In this book, the author has
given a synopsis of a feminine omitted, a masculine driven, and
grand view of the great consequential ideas. In general, Sproul
started to observe Western Philosophies by Pythagoras,
Archimedes, Socrates, and Plato. It has helped the author to
formulate the earliest ideas of realists, sceptics, idealists, and
logic. Likely, my observance of the ideas and knowledge that
have been changed, shaped and contributed by the founding
philosophers over the ages to the field of Humanities could help
me a lot in understanding the growth and development pattern
of evolution (Sproul & Runnette, 2010). The following up of the
Western Philosophies by Pythagoras, Archimedes, Socrates, R. C.
Sproul, and Plato could give me a brief idea about developing a
good research paper. Knowing the emergence of the ideas could
help me to contribute some of the new ideas considering the
current context.
The ideas presented by R. C. Sproul have more importance in the present
research study as he has highlighted the origin and forms of Western
philosophy throughout history that explains the evolvement of the human
culture to its extension till today. This could help me a lot in developing a
research paper by having a brief knowledge about the origin and its
recent growth in ideas (Sproul & Runnette, 2010). This book has provided
knowledge about philosophical ideas and made me understand how it is
liberating humans through the bonds of religion. The learnings from the
book are helpful in maintaining integrity in opposing and supporting
philosophical thoughts. Apart from that, the inductive, empirical, and
modern scientific inquiry associated with the Aristotelian method can be
helpful in my research to give a proper argument. Overall, it can be said
that the book “The consequences of ideas” provides greater insight into
the founding philosophers over the ages in the field of Humanities.
