The division I examined for this forum is "Division 5: Developmental
Psychology". This division promotes research in the field of developmental
psychology and high standards in the application of scientific knowledge
to educational, childcare, policy and related settings. These topics came
as a result of the new regulation administered by the Trump
administration that allow Government to indefinitely detain migrant
families who cross the border. The rest of the topics which came from
exploring the library include; Self-directed speech and self-regulation in
childhood neurodevelopmental disorders: Current findings and future
directions. Self-directed speech is considered an important developmental
achievement as a self-regulatory mediator of thinking and behavior. This
topic holds strong on the belief that use of films is a valid and productive
tool in teaching when working with students who have behavioral and
emotional exceptionalities. Other topics include; Bullying, Prenatal
development, parenting styles and child abuse Looking at the trending
topics today, not only limited to the division 7; developmental psychology
stipulated website, but also from research from other articles in the same
area of research, in developmental psychology, I realize that a couple of
things stick out. For instance, most of the research topics are geared
towards us (humans), understanding how nutrition impacts our mental
health, and also focusing on how to redesign the concept of long-term
care.
