• Having reviewed the thought provoking materials you have identified
regarding stressors and families in the military, it is evident that you have
landed on a theme which should indeed be researched further. a In specific,
the re-acclimation of the soldier upon return to home and to the broader
community, this aspect may be key to well-being of the family members.
The literature review you provided includes key principles such as the
support systems and resiliencies obtained through those systems. a
In proposal then, to expand upon your preliminary concepts, examination
would be impactful on the benefits to families both collectively and for
individuals through faith-based organizations. a In other words, the objective
would be to quantify if there is more resilience through community such as
a church home, on soldiers and their families. a In one example of recent
research, it was demonstrated that attention to one’s spiritual side has a
measurable impact on quality of life in general, but also notably among
soldiers and their families (Heydari, Bordbar, Ebrahimi, & Meshkinyazd,
2020).
A quasi-experimental method should be employed, to study the differences
between the organically formed groups of those involved with a church
family and those who are not. a Although this method will not establish
causal relationships between quality of life and church fellowship, it will
bear a useful baseline to determine if even further research is warranted. a
Quality of life between the two groups will be defined through Likert-scale
survey questions, drawn from or modeled after the battery of questions in
SF-36 Quality of life Questionnaire (RAND, 2022). a Key variables for
measurement will come from the Likert scaled responses to questions
related to resilience such as during a period of recent weeks, “Did you feel
full of life?” and “Have you felt calm and peaceful?” (RAND, 2022). a
Analyses on the ranges of response to the questions will be aimed to
provide us with further understanding on differences between those
involved in faith-based activities and those who are not. a
