The Myers-Briggs personality test helps figure out what kind of personality someone has.
The test contains 50 different questions for the test taker to answer about themselves. After
completing the assessment, you get a result that's made up of four letters. Each letter stands for a
different category. In each category, there are two choices. The first category is either introverted
(shown by "I") or extroverted (shown by "E"). The second category is about sensing (shown by
"S") or intuition (shown by "N"). The third category is about thinking (shown by "T") or feeling
(shown by "F"). The fourth and final category is about judging (shown by "J") or perceiving
(shown by "P"). Upon completing the test, I received the personality type INTJ. This means I'm
introverted, intuitive, a thinker, and a judger. Throughout this assignment, I will dive deeper into
these traits and how they all connect to different personality or behavior patterns.
The first letter I received was introverted (shown by "I"). Being an introvert, I naturally
recharge my energy by spending time alone versus being around other people. I will say, that just
because introverts spend more time alone or prefer the quiet, does not mean they dislike people.
It just comes down to the fact that they feel exhausted or more tired after being in larger social
settings. Frequently, Introverts tend to be independent and prefer working alone.
The second letter I received was intuition (shown by "N"). Those who are intuitive tend
to process information and pick up on various patterns or details that others may not realize at
first. Intuitive thinkers prefer to focus on the bigger outlook within life versus the smaller things.
They tend to think in more abstract and creative ways. Being intuitive also has the potential to
bring out the more creative side within a person.
The third letter I received was thinking (shown by "T"). A person whose personality is
more along the lines of thinking makes decisions based on facts versus someone who makes
choices connected to morals and values, unlike someone who is more feeling-oriented.

Oftentimes, those with this trait are quite critical and logical within their thinking patterns. As
someone with this trait, I recognize within myself that I try my hardest to prioritize truth over
feelings. There can be both positives and negatives about this trait, however, those with the trait
of thinking can come across as insensitive or impersonal because they tend to prioritize logic
over emotions. They tend to be rational rather than driven by passion.
Finally, the fourth and final letter received was judging (shown by "J"). Those who have a
more judging personality prefer to have many areas of their life well organized and planned out.
By doing so, those who have more of a judging personality will feel more at peace and in control
of things. This oftentimes allows them to be able to think ahead and not have to stress out about
last-minute details. Someone who has more of a judging personality, I believe, is more
structured, controlled, and organized. Not being organized can stress them out. For myself, I
much rather know about various things ahead of time, versus finding things out last minute and
having to navigate or adapt to such things.
As someone with the INTJ personality type, I also struggle with anxiety and OCD. In
connection, I prefer to find various things to help with both of those things, and being able to
plan things out and being organized helps me a lot. Having calendars and schedules is a positive
tool that I can utilize to help keep my anxiety and OCD under control. At times, I much rather
spend my time alone which can be a challenge when in college when lots of people want to hang
out and connect for most of the hours outside of classes. As an introvert, it can be a struggle to be
in groups for a long amount of time or have to navigate social interactions. Because of my
personality type, there have been times where I have struggled to connect with new people as I
can come across as disrespectful or rude by not placing myself out there to connect and I am not
afraid to say certain things or opinions of my own. However, my closest friends have similar

personalities and beliefs and tend to appreciate my honesty and bluntness as an INTJ personality
type.
After taking this test and having some time to think about it, I believe that this personality
test can be a bit flawed because those who are taking it are aware that it is going to provide them
answers to their personality, therefore, their answers may not be directly true. Do not get me
wrong, I do appreciate some of these tests and believe they can be insightful, however, I do not
believe a person's entire personality can be defined by this test. Each person created by the Lord
is unique. Potentially, a flaw of this personality assessment is that it can be too general. While
taking the test myself, I felt that I didn’t fit into one category versus another perfectly. Having
my only option be “yes” or “no” made it tricky knowing that I didn’t necessarily fit into it
exactly to the either-or answer.
