Quantitative Research Methodology
Introduction
Quantitative research is a structured method used to examine and analyze research issues and
questions. Many researchers use quantitative research to test their ideas and improve the
accuracy of their results. This paper looks at quantitative research methods by using an outside
academic source. It defines what quantitative research is and explores its different approaches, as
well as its benefits and drawbacks.
Definition Of Quantitative Research
Quantitative research is about discovering facts by testing ideas with measurable data and well-
planned studies. Researchers use this method to assess behaviors and opinions and to make broad
conclusions about a bigger group of people. In a quantitative research approach, a person aims to
measure and observe the variables in the study in an unbiased way using testable hypotheses.
Approaches to Quantitative Research
Experimental Research
Experimental research involves changing or controlling the variable that is being examined.
Researchers will change the independent variables to see how they affect the dependent
variables, while also keeping the extra variables under control. It is usually a random way to
assign participants to make sure the study is valid. (Bonds-Raacke and Raacke 2020.)
Correctional Research
Correlational research shows how different variables are connected, which can result in either a
positive or negative relationship. It's important to understand that, in this analysis, we won't
change the variables. Instead, we will check if there is a relationship between them. Pearson's
correlation is a statistical method that helps researchers clearly understand the relationships
between different variables (Bonds-Raacke & Raacke, 2020).
Survey Research
Survey research is a way to gather information by creating a questionnaire. This method helps us
learn about people's behaviors, attitudes, and opinions. You can give out this questionnaire in a
few different ways. The textbook states that the most common format is written. This kind of
research is done to gather information that can be studied to make general statements. According
to (Bonds-Raacke &Raacke 2020),
Advantages
Quantitative research has many benefits. It assists in examining data. Statistical analysis shows
that the results are more likely to apply to a bigger group of people (APA, 2020). Another benefit
is the reliable accuracy that comes from following a steady process, which helps ensure that
results can be repeated. According to (Bond-Raacke & Raacke 2020), bonds are a type of
investment. When this is done correctly and the information is correct, it shows that what is
being studied is valid.
Disadvantages
Quantitative research has a number of drawbacks. One example that could affect internal validity
is when certain content is ignored, failing to consider outside influences and complicated
situations. (Bonds-Raacke &Raacke, 2020) Another downside is that the tools being used to
measure things may not be accurate, which can result in missing important details and lower the
trustworthiness of the results. Finally, connotative research methods try to understand how a
person sees things, but they may not fully capture the complexity of human behavior. (APA,
2020)

to well-supported conclusions. This method has some drawbacks, but its benefits, especially
regarding trustworthiness and precise data, make it important for scientific research. You can
gain a better understanding of quantitative methods and how they are used in different fields by
combining course materials with outside resources.
