The human brain and body are a miracle of God in itself. Each complex nerve and cell
reminds us every day that God fearfully and wonderfully makes us. Our brain works in such
complex actions that it leaves people in awe and wonder of how it is even possible.
Palms 139:14 (NIV) states, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” God has made us, our brains, bodies, nerves,
cells, neurons, each part of us fearfully and wonderfully made. Facts about the brain and how it
works remind us of it every time we learn or think about it. “There are about 10 million sensory
neurons and about 0.5 million motor neurons. This provides a ratio of about 20:1 between the
combined input and output channels. There are many times more channels available for
analyzing data and providing an appropriate response (George, S., Kelley, B., & Piferi, R.,
2021).” Our brains and their components are so complex that it is nearly impossible for a human
to understand every little thing despite how much we try. Each of our brains allows us to be us,
the complex parts from the frontal lobes to the neurons within each part of it. Despite our brains
working similarly, we are all different and made with a purpose in God’s image. It is purely
amazing how our brains work to do such simple things. The process of the chemical reactions to
move your hand, speak, or the pain you feel when you hurt yourself. The neurons fire signals to
each other to communicate different things called neurotransmitters. “The process of chemical
communication, neurotransmission, is made possible by certain chemicals called
neurotransmitters, which are released by neurons and change the electrical potential of cells, thus
leading to neural transmission. These chemicals are then reabsorbed by the releasing neuron—a
process referred to as reuptake. This reuptake process is one of the primary ways
neurotransmission is turned off (George, S., Kelley, B., & Piferi, R., 2021).” This piece of
information is even more proof that we are wonderfully made in God’s image. 1 Corinthians 3:16
(NESV) states, “Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in
you?” Our complex and beautiful minds are temples to serve and worship God in all his glory.
This just shows how God made our minds and bodies in his image, fearfully and wonderfully
made.
God has made us, our brains, bodies, nerves, cells, neurons, each part of us fearfully and
wonderfully made. Our brains are complex and work to do simple things, such as move hands,
speak, and feel pain. Our minds are temples to serve and worship God in all his glory. We are
fearfully and wonderfully made in God’s image.
