Motivation is essential in propelling people toward their educational goals. We
investigated several aspects that influence motivation in our textbook's "Motivation and
Emotion" chapter. This article explains what motivates me in my educational career, building on
textbook topics. Furthermore, as shown in Figure 1.7, we will examine the intersection of values
and purpose and describe how it shapes one's motivational experience.
Several motivational elements come into play in my educational pursuits, as stated in the
textbook. First and foremost, the concept of intrinsic motivation speaks to me deeply. Intrinsic
motivation is the natural desire to participate in an activity for the sheer delight and satisfaction it
provides (Reeve, 2018). Intrinsic drive for me comes from a real curiosity and passion for the
areas I study. I strive to thrive academically because I enjoy learning and feel a feeling of
accomplishment when I understand new topics. In addition, the textbook highlights the
significance of autonomy in motivation. Freedom entails feeling in control of and having a say
over one's educational path (Reeve, 2018). The ability to choose my courses and explore topics
of interest motivates me. This liberty generates a sense of ownership over my education, which
increases my commitment to the learning process.
Furthermore, another textbook idea, the demand for competence, plays a key role in my
drive. The need to feel capable and achieve mastery in my chosen field drives me onward
(Reeve, 2018). When I observe progress and improvement in my academic achievement, it
boosts my motivation even more.
The textbook's Figure 1.7 depicts the junction of values and purpose, which can
profoundly inform one's motivational experience. Values define what people consider significant,
whereas purpose refers to a meaningful life path (Reeve, 2018). Aligning personal beliefs with
educational goals might boost motivation in the classroom. For example, if someone values
social justice, their educational goal may be to gain information and skills that will help them
contribute to constructive social change. As education becomes a tool to fulfill firmly held ideals,

As stated in the "Motivation and Emotion" chapter of our textbook, motivation in
educational endeavors is a complicated phenomenon influenced by a variety of elements. In my
personal educational journey, intrinsic motivation, autonomy, and the need for competence have
all been significant motivators. Furthermore, the confluence of values and purpose, as shown in
Figure 1.7, emphasizes the significance of connecting personal values with educational goals.
Motivation becomes a powerful force that propels individuals toward their academic objectives
when values and purpose are infused into one's educational experience.
