To conclude this journal, I am going to give my thoughts on Employment Law and all that has
been covered in this class. The topics covered I believe are all closely related with biblical views.
Through the statutory basis we see how employees are to be treated fairly and equally no matter
of their race, sex, gender, sexual orientation, age or color, or religion, age or if one is disabled.
The bible shows how we should have respect for everyone and to show respect for all by treating
one another as we would want to be treated.
An example of how we see biblical rationale in the workplace would be through the age
discrimination protections and laws. The bible demonstrates in many areas the older indivual
should not be cast aside. When God gave the Law to His people, He instructed Moses to tell
them, “Stand up in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly and revere your God”
(Leviticus 19:32). We see in this verse that we should show respect to those that are older than
us, they have lived longer and experienced more. With their wisdom and experience they
probably would be able to teach or advise on situations that may arise.
As a paralegal, I believe that the guidelines of what we have learned and tying them to the
biblical sense doesn’t seem to be a difficult way of living. One should always treat everyone,
coworkers, employers, potential coworkers, and clients with respect. By doing this one could
always ensure they will be following the way the lord wants us to live, along with making sure
that our work environment is following the rules and regulations that are established.
