Book Review of Exploring Federalism by Daniel J. Elazar
Introduction (128 words)
Federalism is a rule of government using different models, as depicted by Daniel Elazar. To begin with,
the writer provides a summary of Daniel's model to acquaint us with the model of Federalism. Daniel
describes different models of Federalism and their characteristic. This paper delves into the federalism
model as depicted by Elazar. An explanation of Federalism and the different features that distinguish
Federalism from other types of governance. The writer proceeds to analyze the similarities and
differences between dual and centralized Federalism against a cooperative type of Federalism. Elazar's
model is presented in the biblical worldview of governance, within which a clear bible example provides
to support Elazar's model of the system. Elazar's model justifies the biblical worldview.
Elazar & Competing Models of Federalism (416 words)
Elazar's model of Federalism suggests the cross-over of various acknowledges of Federalism to
make a successful type of administration. Daniel accepted that Federalism should include a mix
of self-rule and shared rule. each degree of force is just about as significant as the following
without supporting the idea that the state or the National government is predominant. (cite).
Daniel's federalism model has general distinguishing features. He establishes that there are two or
more levels of government whereby each level has its jurisdiction in matters of legislation, taxation, and
administration even though they govern the same citizens. The Constitution specifies the powers and
functions of each tier of government, and the Supreme Court has the power to settle disputes between
federal governments. In Federalism, fundamental provisions of the Constitution cannot be altered by any
level of government. The Constitution specifies revenue sources between the levels, and there is mutual
agreement and trust between governments of the different levels.

Dual Federalism exercises separate powers of both the federal government and state governments. Each
unit works independently. The states can exercise their powers without having the central government
meddle. Agreeable Federalism is a framework where the administrative and state legislatures cooperate,
however the public government has incomparable power.Serious Federalism makes contest between a
focal government and state legislatures, mainlyconcerning evening out of the covering between at least
two state legislatures t to advocate for better and shared economic interests. It is known that a booming
economy will carry on sound contest and rivalry between state run administrations, which is gainful.
Whenever this opposition exists between individuals from an organization, it is called cutthroat
Federalism. The similarities are that dual and cooperative both have power similar economic interests; the
other similarity is that both dual and cooperative have powers.
Centralized Federalism is when the federal government forces the different states to implement
specificapproaches by awards in-help or intergovernmental moves. Models incorporate conception
prevention, Medicare/Medicaid, purchaser security acts, food stamps,, other programs to help fight
poverty, and even federal aid to schools. Agreeable federalism awards help states in gathering their needs,
while incorporated federalism awards accompany surprises. Concentrated Federalism fixates on the
possibility that the central government should set every public strategy. The state and neighborhood
legislatures ought to be answerable for doing these arrangements. We can depict that policies are created
and adhered to in the two systems. In addition, the grants are to assist people.
Elazar & the Biblical Worldview (461 words)
The human relationship with politics narrows down to three focal points - 1) political justice to attain a
good political order, 2) the quest to understand the reality of political power, and 3) its existence and the
creation of civic environment through civil society to integrate the initial two providing a good quality
life. Power and justice are the two main focuses of politics. The writer agrees with Elazar's model for the
brighter side of governance. Elazar's model promotes justice to almost every individual. The second
reason I agree with Elazar is that federalism results in power distribution and minimizing dictatorship.
3
Accountability through a constitution is another positive side of Elazar's model. The mutual agreement
between states is achieved through a covenant.
Justice is perceived as social and economic justice. Elazar's model supports justices in deciding
who should be given what and at what time. In the Bible, justice is supported through the law.
The Bible discourages the oppression of the poor and the less advantaged and encourages people
to treat them as equals. Jesus himself came to save the poor, seek the lost, and bring redemption,
In all his ministries, the Bible portrays him as an object of justice to the oppressed, and he even
condemns those who are not treating their counterparts equally. In addition, the Bible indicates
punishment to those who do wrong to others. However, they shall be rewarded for those who are
kind when cooperative governance is implemented, justice service to each person. All states are
entitled to specific resources equally.
The Bible portrays God as the ultimate ruler of the earth. The Bible also brings in Jesus and the
Holy Spirit to the picture. The power is distributed from God to Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Jesus
himself mentions that he is given the power in Mathew 28:18. Jesus also mentions that he has
given us the power to overcome all evil in Luke chapter 10. Power distribution reduces the
possibility of dictatorship. It gives states have a platform to exercise their opinions and come to
an agreement.
A covenant contributes to an agreement. God laid out the Mosaic contract with the Israelites after he
saved them from subjugation in Egypt in the tale of the Exodus, in the Hebrew bible. Moses drove the
Israelites into the guaranteed land known as Canaan. The Mosaic pledge assumed a part in characterizing
the Kingdom of Israel.. Beyond its central religious purpose, the Mosaic covenant was also political.
It established Israel as a holy nation, God's special possession (Exod 19:5-6). In the same way, state and
federal rule of power guides by an agreement. The agreement defines ownership and the rule's scope, a
covenant that clearly states the status of interaction.

Conclusion (125 words)
Federalism requires forsaking the perspective on one focal ruler with outright control
over the nation's undertakings and, on second thought, picking a few rulers, each with power
over various areas. At long last, Federalism looks to add, however not lessen, "earlier natural
ties," or the kinds of prior connections inside a country. Federalism establishes on the premise
that it may ideally suit neither public nor the territorial government for each issue. A "viewpoint"
suggests a broad beginning of the world from a specific standpoint. An Elazar's view stands by
man's relationship with God, a legally binding relationship. According to a Christian point of
view, it is a comprehensive thought regarding the world from The Christian world is a complete
idea about the world.
