Staying close to your ten-year-old without over protecting them
Abstract:
Now a day's parents are having very hard time raising their kids to be the mature adults
that parents want them to be. But they have all these distractions like video games, smart
phones, TV, Xbox, PS4, Halo, and basically everything else. Parents didn't get a chance to grow
up with these distractions so they do have much training with them. Parent can't grow close to
their kids with all these distractions in the way. The virtual reality brings the child to another
world that is more exciting than our own. The mind of a ten-year-old is still growing and
changing its looking any sort of stimulation to challenge it and engage in another world. Parents
must help the student see that in the real world isn't a video game and they have to connect with
child in a radical way to where they really don't need the video game. Parent want to make their
child change and grow. They also want their child to be safe and not feel pain. but the argument
to that is that we don't our children to feel pain. But to be safe just playing video games. Kids
these day need structure and they need guidance. The bible is the best handbook for raising your
kids. Other, older, role models are the best ways to get advice about your child. Ask questions
make mistakes and don’t be afraid to try new things. God is total control of what your child does
and is in total control of our lives.

Kids bodies today are changing
all the time. Their mind is constantly growing, they are learning new things, and they can't seem
to get it all straight. They are always getting new distractions like, face book, Instagram, twitter,
snap chat. many more things online. these kids also have video games game to worry about.
plus, many of them are very violent. So, amongst all this visual stimulation they have school,
friends, sport, family, homework, t-ball, and many other things. Parents didn't have all these
distractions when they were kids. so, parents have no idea how to protect their child from these
distractions. Parents only know how to put kids in boxes and never explore the world. Then
when they get out into the world they are turned on to the most horrible things like drugs,
alcohol, sex, the whole 9 yards. Parents will over protect their kids and not even realize it. It
will prevent the 10-year-old from growing closer to their parent. It will prevent the child from
experiencing true freedom. Jesus cam so that we would have true freedom in him and not be
smoother and over protected by our parents. He gave our parents a task to love their kids and to
instruct them in the ways of the lord. The way to do that is grow closer to them. Still allowing
them to be free in Christ.

The process of brain development of a child is a crazy yet beautiful thing. There
are so many things happening in a ten year olds brain. All this activity that is happening in the
brain is an amazing experience. Both inside and outside of the brain. "Children's early social
experiences shape their developing neurological and biological systems for good or for
ill"(Thompson). It all depends on the environment the child grows up in. if the home is good
and parents are loving a protective it will aid in the development of the brain. If the home is bad
and dangerous and the child is stressed all the time the brain won't develop well. It all depends
on the home they grew up in. If it s safe environment that is loving and is free of danger, then it
will be fine. but if it is not safe, the parents are dangerous and don't love their child then it will
be bad for the child. It all depends on the home. These children that are the ones that are in
prison. Prisoners have a track record of coming from a bad home. " results were found in
relation to engagement with the education system with substantial numbers of prisoners stating
that they had regularly played truant (59%), been suspended (63%) or been permanently expelled
(42%) from mainstream education" (Matthews). With all the facts, here about home life and the
results at school. it seems to be a great idea to have a very great home life when raising kids.

When it comes to distractions in the home there is everything from social media to video
games. These things are fine and good but what effect do they have on our children that
prevents them from brain development and growing closer to the family. In terms of rerating to
the family certain kinds of video games have a negative effect on the brain " There is an
extremely large body of research demonstrating a relationship between playing certain types of
violent video games and increases in measures of aggressive thoughts” (Bavelier). when you are
a violent kid you have, a hard time connecting with people in your house hold. No one want to
be around you. therefore no one can connect with you on a deeper level. Don't surround your
child with violent video games and movies. But surround them with Godly people and certain
kind of things. Video games should be done in moderation any way.
Parents who love their child to much and can't say the word "no” to their child. They
don't do well at school and do well in life in general. "Middle-class children underperform at
school because they are being reared by "parents who love their children too much to say
'No'"(Sunday times). These are the parents that don't discipline their kids. Their Kids fail at
school and then they fail at life. They can't hold a job, a family, friends, etc. The parents think
it's a good idea to let their kid do anything but at the same time it a bad idea. But then their s the
other side of the spectrum that parents who don't let their kid do anything without it getting fixed

by the parent. " Overprotective parents are always there to offer their help to their kids. They do
not understand the fact that kids may learn a lot by making mistakes. When parents are always
there to help, kids fail to develop their own problem solving skills and get over dependent upon
their parents" (Jag Yasi). You must allow your kids to find out the world for themselves. They
need to figure it out themselves.
In the bible, Paul talks about the role of the parent. Ephesians 6:4 says, "Fathers, do not
exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the
Lord"(NIV). Parents must raise their kids with love and support. Regardless of what they do.
Learn to say "no" to your kids. Learn when to say "yes” to your kids too and they will go far.
