Intro
Studying and analyzing result’s of any couple is not such an easy task. Sure all the
information is there in front of you, but certain tests can be faulty to a degree. The
Prepare/Enrich analysis has an 80-85% accuracy according to Dr. Blaine J Flowers, and replicated
in a separate study by Dr. Andrea S. Larsen.1
The point of this intro is to explain the results that follow. There are circumstances in
which the author of this paper are 1) being stationed in an location where the majority of all
people are either married or not looking to get married and 2) not currently involved in an
Assembly (church) system in which one could find premarital couples, therefore the results in
this paper were taken by the author and spouse themselves. Reason being, is not to take a
complete loss of points as well as get the personal experience to see what the test consists of so
that putting any future couple through, the results would be better understood.
Background Information for the Couple
The traditional Biblical couple were between the ages of 41-45. The male Gaspar by
birth is Jewish/Messianic and the spouse, Bianca marked other. Gaspar is currently in the Air
Force, has served between 6-10 years, has been deployed once, and has been in a combat
situation. Bianca was at one point also Air Force, served more than10 years, has never been
deployed nor served in a combat situation.
Both are first in position by birth and one of two children born to their parents. They
have been married between 11-20 years (17 this March). They have four children together.
Gaspar’s was raised by a single parent and Bianca was raised by both biological parents.

Couple Type
This couple is a Vitalized Couple scoring above 70 percent across the board except in
leisure activities which scored at 50 percent. This would be understood with four children and
one parent serving in the armed forces. There are no weaknesses with this couple. The highest
strength areas area their communication and conflict resolution at 100, followed by sexual
relationship at 90 percent, with financial management and family and friends at 80 percent.
From what the scales are showing, there could always be growth, but with strong relationship
skills, they have a solid foundation to do so.2
It is noticed that a strong couple of 11-20 years should have high scores in many areas.
As mentioned above, growth can always happen with more experience the two of them go
through. Pending on the age of the four children, and taking into account the length of military
service, length of marriage and age, it would be safe to assume the children are possibly in the
range of five and older. This may account for leisure time being lower depending on this
accounting for family leisure time or couple leisure time.3
Possible Strength of Growth Areas
As mentioned above many of the areas were very high with the exception of leisure
activities. This would be a great area in which needs some special attention. Is this within the
context of leisure between the couple as time together or is it in the context of the family as a
whole? When taking into account the communication and conflict resolution, one could assume
this would be in the realm of possibly having other circumstances such as job (military) or
events outside work (kids needs) which could be affecting this matter.

3 It is noted, that in taking this test, many of the questions did not take into account certain context in
which can have different results in matters similar to this reference.
3
When looking further into the report you can see stressors that could be affecting this
area. The military stress profile has stressors listed. Raising this particular topic would be of
need. Having a life in the military can be stressful, whether it is realized or not and the need for
this type of activity whether it is relaxing or getting away from the everlasting needs of the
military can be a great way to raise this area.
Circumplex Model/Family Map
A few discussion topics according to what is viewed on the map here would be to see
what Gaspar sees in a “somewhat connected” family. Due to an answer in the family and friends
area on acceptance in the family, a good push into the topic would be good. Why did he answer
in the way he did? What was the flexibility that was allowed in his family? This should be of
concern since his closeness is also “somewhat connected.”
Bianca, according to the map has a “connected” and “somewhat flexible” answer.
Looking into her background, one could see why there may have been a bit more discipline in
the family.
After seeing the results from the report being in the upper scores, this may not be of
huge importance, but would still be good to ask a few questions over.
SCOPE Personality Scale
The one area that deserves some attention is the “change” part of the SCOPE Personality
Scale. There is a clear difference in how they scored. In looking at the couple and family maps, it
is seen as to why they scored the way they did. Gaspar seems to have been raised a very flexible
family, while Bianca’s family was not as flexible.
After looking how long they have been married, it could be assumed that the opposites
in their spectrum here, could easily be strengths. This trait according to the Scope Personality
Profile on Prepare & Enrich, could represent a case of being attracted to ones opposite. Each
4
partner could value that which they do not possess and build off those traits to make them
stronger.
Conclusion
In taking this test, the one thing that stood out, was the scoring factor. Instead of having
a one to five scoring counter, there was the extreme on each side with an undecided in the
middle. The undecided answer instead of a scale of disagree to agree in strength could easily
throw off results. This led to several answers in which looked like there was some slight
disagreement in one category, but when looking at another category, there was agreement. So,
which was it?
For example, the leisure activities disagreement and indecision do not match or seem to
correlate to the couple scoring high in communication and conflict resolution.
As for this couple to need future exploration, this author is not sure much is needed. All
couples should go to some sort of counseling to strengthen the relationship, but as far as any
concerning areas as of right now, don’t see any.
If the undecided was thrown out and instead scored with a yay or a nay, it may make a
difference in the scoring and results.
