Zechariah’ Ministry
In this essay, Zechariah and his prophecy for God’s chosen people will be the topic of
discussion. Zechariah, like his contemporary Haggai, ministered to the early postexilic
community.1 What made Zechariah so special as a prophet is that he was born during exile in
Babylon. He was blessed to receive the message from God that he would return to Jerusalem one
day. When Zechariah returned to Jerusalem, he influenced the people to restore the temple in
Jerusalem. His ability to preach the true prophecy from God, allowed him to impact their lives
greatly. Before the exile, Israel was living a life not pleasing to God. They have gone as far as
worshiping false idols, violating the first commandment which states that no other gods before
him (ex. 20:3). Zechariah’s prophecy requires the Israelites to purify and refine themselves
before the Messiah arrives. As mentioned, this requires them to remove all the wickedness they
developed in exile. They must get rid of all the false idols worshiping, which led them to exile in
the first place.
My Ministry
My ministry is very significant in today’s period. I am a group leader of two ministries,
the first is the youth’s ministry, and the second is the chaplain’s ministry. I find these ministries
valuable in this era because the youth are looking for leaders to show them what a righteous life
looks like and Chaplains are needed for those in crisis who have difficulty making their way to a
church. I conduct my youth ministry at the church. We meet on Tuesdays evening to give them
enough time to finish practice and complete their homework assignments. The youth in ministry
learn biblical lessons that they can apply immediately to their everyday life. The meeting for my

Chaplain ministry is held at the church but our activities are conducted in the community.
Outreach is a vital aspect of my ministry. Helping the community is what I believe is required to
show the people that you care about them and want to see them do well. The members that I lead
have grown so much throughout the years. Most of the growth is due to us having to emulate
what Christ was like when he was on Earth. Living a Christian requires one to put their best foot
forward, which instills wisdom. God has given me the ability to produce disciples and save those
who are lost and heading down a path of wickedness.
